We ran into some old friends before the show. We talked to them again after the show. The singers were very believable........in their actions and voices. Every seat is a good seat in the Ames Theatre.
Good concert in most every way. AND, that said: I sat at the uppermost part of the hall, in row EE. The sound was too loud/tinny on the very first number. So much so that I muffled (not plugged) my ears. That continued for much of the performance....just too loud much of the time. (maybe it's my ears...they're 65 yr old eardrums) "Willie" was the weaker voice, "Waylon" was outstanding and strong, and "Johnny" was between the two. So perhaps the sound tech needed to balance them more, at least for my liking. Also...what was happening with the lighting crew????????? The spot must've been malfunctioning.?! The afternoon cost $90 total, for 2 people. In retrospect, I wouldn't do that again.
Awesome show and great tribute! Best we’ve seen out of all the impersonations out there. We would love to see them again for another round!
The show was good, BUT I did not realize that it was not the Highwaymen. Nor did many other ticketholders. A lot of people were complaining because they felt like they were swindled. Obviously I was not expecting to see Johnny Cash, but when I googled The Highwaymen I found Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, and Merle Haggard.
The Highwaymen were absolutely amazing. All 3 did a fantastic job. Waylon was so authentic it was unbelievable. He was my husband's favorite. We both really liked Willie. Excellent portrayal and sound a like voice of the real Willie. Johnny was my favorite. He had the mannerisms down perfect of the late Johnny Cash. The opening band that was also back up was great!! We are going to watch to see when this group comes anywhere within driving distance again as we will definitely go to see them again. The venue at Wheeling Island was relaxed, comfortable and fun. A great time!! An added bonus was that most of the band and the highwaymen came out into the casino after the concert and visited with the crowd.
Bob Gill was amazing as was Michael Moore as Willie Nelson. Rusty Evans was good, very good in fact but there was just a little something off in his voice and looks. Overall the show was excellent. Shows offered at the Chester Fritz are very convenient in terms of parking. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. The back up band was excellent as was the vocal of Courtney.
I was very impressed with Waylon and Willie - how they sounded like the guys. Johnny came on strong after the intermission. I thought Waylon resembled the real Waylon a lot. Courtney was a very good singer. I was waiting for her and Johnny to sing a song as John and June did.
