About

HAR MAR SUPERSTAR IN CONCERT:

When it comes to raunchy, lecherous, tongue-in-cheek pop spectacle, nobody holds a candle to R&B singer turned pop provocateur Har Mar Superstar. Known for taking the stage  in various degrees of undress and undulating suggestively to his seedy bedroom jams, Har Mar's live shows verge on performance art, blurring the boundaries between parody and sincerity. Whether he's ladykilling with "Girls Only" or serving vintage soul realness with "Lady, You Shot Me," Har Mar always has a blast, and so will fans lucky enough to catch him on his upcoming tour dates.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Born in Minnesota, Sean Matthew Tillmann, a.k.a. Har Mar Superstar, played in various garage bands in high school before forming three-piece noise band Calvin Krime. After the group disbanded in 1998, he tried his hand at pop music as Sean Na Na before eventually embracing R&B and beginning to record and perform as Har Mar Superstar. His self-titled 2000 debut on Kill Rock Stars put him on the indie radar, but it was his scantily-clad, spectacle-filled live shows that ultimately earned him international attention. In 2004, he was named NME's Rock and Roll Man of the Year after his third album The Handler landed on the UK Albums chart. Since then, he has released two more albums of provocative pop and R&B, thrilling fans with his upbeat live shows on perennial tours.

    Har Mar Reigns Supreme

by AlexF1980 on 10/29/16Brighton Music Hall - Boston

This was the third time we had seen Har Mar. Second time at the Brighton Music Hall. As always, he puts on a show like no other. His stage presence and voice are truly amazing. It was also cool to hear some new songs from his most recent album. The opening band Sweet Spirit was also really good and I was excited to discover a new band by seeing their live show and digging their music.

    BEST PERFORMER OUT THERE.

by JannAbbey on 12/9/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

Go see Har Mar Superstar, even if you haven't heard of him. He is the ideal live performer, as if the songs on Bye Bye 17 weren't fantastic already, he brings them to the next level with his performances. Macaulay Culken (Pizza Underground) is entertaining in the sense that his presence adds to the fun. Him and Har Mar are hysterical together.

This show was so much fun! I have been a fan of Har Mar since the early 2000's and he did not disappoint in this show with multiple costume changes, and entertaining cast of characters (including Macaulay Culkin). The opening act Lizzo was also amazing, really high energy performance that only got more dynamic when her group GRRRL PRTY joined her for a few songs. The Bowery Ballroom was a great venue with amazing sound and a really fun bar to hang out at before the show and between acts.

    Friggin Fantastic

by tejotabe on 10/28/09Mercury Lounge - New York

Har Mar Superstar was amazing - actually everyone was great except the first band that performed. I just didn't get them. But in the end everything is about Har Mar Superstar and as he said himself, "I'm f&cking fantastic."
