About

Fairy tales ROCK, especially this story featuring the fearless sibling duo of Gretel and Hansel! Still reeling from the disappearance of their mother and classmates, Hansel believes with all of his heart that he’s found a way to rescue them deep within The Forbidden Forest. Doubtful, the streetwise Gretel follows in pursuit of her dreamer brother. When they come across a candy house, their bond and beliefs are put to the test until love saves the day.

This story is brought to musical life through the talents of The Grimm Brothers Band performing a live rock and roll score. Nationally produced playwright Ernie Nolan teams up with GRAMMY -nominated ‘kindie’ artist Justin Roberts to create a wickedly delicious musical treat for the entire family.

    Tiny theater-big time talent

by Anonymous on 1/13/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Hansel & Gretel was amazing! The moment my granddaughter & I walked in we were graciously greeted, the coloring table for occupying little ones was a brilliant idea. The play was cleverly staged for such a small venue. The actors were all so talented! The flow kept the attention of every age in the audience, the speech at the end brought tears to my eyes! The autograph and picture session closed the event perfectly. The actors were beyond amazing with the kids.

Cost friendly for families---the performers did an excellent job of dual jobs: musician and actor!! Entertaining!

Hansel & Gretel fun for small and bigger kids

by Frankiefi on 1/6/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

My kids loved it ages 5 through 11 as did my wife and I. Had humor to suit all and the length was ideal 70 minutes no intermission. The play was pratically sold out the time we went. It is definitely worth taking a trip to Water Tower. The theater is a perfect venue for this show and there is not a bad seat in the house.

We enjoyed the show as much as our 3 yr old nephew. The cast was excellent, good musicians, good voices, good character message for boys AND girls... would definitely look for this troupe again.

I took 4 second graders to this show, and they all loved it. The live music, acting, singing and set changes were all great.

Hansel and Gretel Great for Musical Theater

by Stasia1977 on 1/5/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

Had a great time taking my nieces to this as their holiday gift! Costumes, music and story were great... I only wish the scenery were a bit "more".

Hansel and Gretel ruined a good fairy tale.

by Jkbjfmjjfsj on 1/4/15Broadway Playhouse at Water Tower Place - Chicago

The story presented on stage had little resemblance to the Grimm's tale that was so delightfully written. In an effort to make the tale more child friendly, they took away the charm of the original. It could have been done as well using the original tale sans violence. Changing the story to be about a disappearing mother and village children had nothing to do with the Hansel and Gretel we all know and love. The music was ok, at best. I was disappointed. In saying this, the 7 and 5 year old I bought to the play, enjoyed it.

A very good set up on a tiny stage. Live music is cool. Lottie/the witch is a great actor! It was a very entertaining family morning .

This was a great performance and age appropriate for my 5 and 7 year old. They did a great job with keeping the storyline fun and engaging. The music was outstanding as well.
