This show was more than I expected. Professional and entertaining. Great music, acting and storytelling. I would see ANYTHING with Jason Perry....so impressed.
Folks, if you get a chance to see this guy in concert, jump at it. We went to this show thinking it was just going to be a straight concert of Hank Williams songs, which would have been plenty. But Jason Petty takes you through Hank's life story from start to finish, providing details of his career between songs, which took this concert from very good to brilliant. He had two guys supporting him, on fiddle and steel guitar and they were excellent, each having recording careers themselves. There was also plenty of humour thrown into the mix. The guy is so good, he's played the Grand Old Opry! Jason Petty is no one trick pony however, as he does other types of concerts covering other country artists. I will have to keep an eye out for the show he does with a female singer, who does Patsy Cline, Tammy Wynette and others. That would be something to see. So, a big thumbs up for this guy. A must-see!
It's hard to get my husband to any performance, much worse to drive close to 2 hours to see one. He nearly talked himself out of attending the show (tickets were a birthday gift). I kept on him and put up with his complaints about the traffic for the first hour of the drive. He had settled down by the time we arrived at the casino, but having to walk through the smoke-filled halls and then enter the auditorium where the seats were crammed like sardines set him off again. Once the lights dimmed and Petty took the stage, all was forgotten & my husband truly enjoyed the show. It's been a month but he still talks about it in certain conversations. About a week ago he visited a friend in a care center who is an avid fan of Hank's and wished the performance could take stage there!
I drove 200 miles to see the show and it was worth it. I wish I could have stayed for the evening show. I am 69 years old and every song brought back great memories. I sang along with each song with a few tears in my eyes. There is nobody like Hank Williams and his music. The group and lead singer and narrator were great as I could close my eyes and hear Hank singing . I definately would come back and see them again. Please make it happen .
Jason Petty and his band were off the charts! It was very entertaining and the music was fantastic. He and the band members could not have done a better job of portraying the talents of Hank Williams Sr. I would definitely see them again.
The show was great, we would come to see Hank and the Honky Tonk Heroes again. The band players were excellent and very talented.
My wife and I took my parents and her Grandma and we were all impressed. Most of the time when someone sings a Hank Williams song, its not even close to the way it should be done. This show is just the opposite!!! Jason Petty does everything right, his voice cracks the same way and at the same time that Hank Sr's did, and the words are all right. If you like Hank Sr, this is worth going to. Very very good!!!
We saw this show in Branson, MO six years ago and it was even BETTER than the first time. We came away with a new appreciation of Hank Williams than we ever knew before. Jason is as close to Hank as a perfomer can get and he was Wonderful!!! He told Hank's story just as if he had lived it himself and captured our attention for the full 2 hours with no problem at all!
The concert was well done. great music, singing and story telling. Learned a lot about the great Hank Williams and he lived for such a short time.
