Groundworks Dance Theater gave our audience a wonderful performance. They were not only technically accomplished, dancing together and making difficult moves appear to be done with ease, but they conveyed the emotions of the three pieces through movement - the essence of dance theater.
The new work that highlighted the second half of the performance was exuberant and fun while still allowing the dancers to really strut there stuff through demanding choreography. The first half was similarly well done and emotionally powerful.
The weather was exceptionally hot at the partially outdoor venue. Even though fans were spinning on the ceiling of the Alma Theater, the exterior temperature started in the 90s, and it didn't cool off that much by the end of the performance. Nevertheless, the dancers persevered; all the more reason they deserve kudos.
Pay attention to your arts calendars to see when and where Groundworks next performs or visit their website. They are well worth seeing, and you won't be disappointed.
