Absolutely beautiful bodies in motion. The music was captivating. The dancers were entertaining. The only thing i was not fond of was what they were wearing. They looked like scrubs., or mental ward clothing. Would have enjoyed much better if they're bodies were exposed or different attire
Groundworks Dance Theater gave our audience a wonderful performance. They were not only technically accomplished, dancing together and making difficult moves appear to be done with ease, but they conveyed the emotions of the three pieces through movement - the essence of dance theater. The new work that highlighted the second half of the performance was exuberant and fun while still allowing the dancers to really strut there stuff through demanding choreography. The first half was similarly well done and emotionally powerful. The weather was exceptionally hot at the partially outdoor venue. Even though fans were spinning on the ceiling of the Alma Theater, the exterior temperature started in the 90s, and it didn't cool off that much by the end of the performance. Nevertheless, the dancers persevered; all the more reason they deserve kudos. Pay attention to your arts calendars to see when and where Groundworks next performs or visit their website. They are well worth seeing, and you won't be disappointed.

Groundworks presented a flawlessly performed show of superbly trained and talented dancers in a carefully curated evening of breathtaking dance. The second half of the program was destroyed by a raucous, competing event next door.

Last Friday's Groundworks' performance was, as usual, highly professional and polished. The program was varied with something for everyone, regardless, of his or her familiarity with modern dance. I feel this company is world-class and is still accessible to a a broad swath of potential audiences.
2 world premieres by great artists including great dancers, fantastic choreography, accomplished musicians all in an intimate setting make for an unforgettable evening
