    Brilliant Beethoven

by Andy3rd on 4/23/15Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

The April 19 performance of Beethoven's Ninth by the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra -- backed by 200+ strong choral voices -- was absolutely brilliant. I wasn't the only one in the audience who was enthralled, as the long standing ovation at its conclusion proved.

    classical review.

by rockseveryweher on 4/22/15Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

This musical event was a tremendous success for the GNSO. The 9th is a monumental undertaking by an orchestra and its complimentary chorus. I was very thrilled and pleased to have this kind of venue in Sugarloaf PAC.Bring more of this and I will be there.

    An uplifting experience

by Gardenmaven on 4/22/15Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

A first time visit to the Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center. A beautiful, well run venue and a wonderful asset to the local community. I was afraid my husband, a knowledgeable classical music fan, would find the technical abilities of the performers not to his standards. I was therefore delighted when, as we left, he said how glad he was that I had taken the initiave to plan for us to attend the event. He considered the performances were of high quality and most enjoyable. His only negative comment was the poor German accent of one of the soloists. He was impressed with everything else including the hard work involved to achieve such a spectacular result. Phew! Now the door is open to plan more such beautiful afternoons! Well done to all concerned!

    The soloists were perfect.

by Okay50 on 4/22/15Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center - Chester

The orchestra needs to tighten up it's teamwork. The trumpet soloists missed some notes and the strings tempo was being dragged down by at least one player in back. The microphones need to be repositioned. If the conductor gets in there and really works them hard for a while they'll be ok. The soloists were perfect in the 9th, and the kettle drum was spot on.
