Great event, the paddock passes made for great access, and all of the races were entertaining and exciting. Watching Auto Racing on TV is great, but witnessing it live was a sight (and sound) to behold!
Had a great time -- watched everything from Turn 1 and my nine-year-old loved the kids zone as well. Will return next year.
I was overall happy with the event. I feel some areas of the track could have been more visible, but you are limited to the area the streets have to offer. My grand stand seats were good, food was easily accessible. No complaints here. I do feel that the Indy race in St. Pete is a better event for the spectators attending though. Maybe it comes from the experience they have there.
The LeMans race was terrific. Good close racing, lots of things to do within the event grounds, and good food. It is exceptionally loud, reccomend that you bring earplugs,
Overall the event was great. The changes to the track during the weekend were at times confusing as to where you could or could not view the track while standing. Sponsor banners blocked the view in many desireable locations. Putting the banners lower would have been just as effective but allowed unresticted viewing. Opening the area at the top of pits was a plus. Restricting the area along Conway on Sunday was not a good move. This area of the track was the least accessible. Having a place to upgrade tickets inside the track may be useful. I spoke to several people with general admission who talked about pruchasing seating next year. Putting TV screens in the eating areas both in the paddock and outside might increase vendor sales. I found the interaction between the drivers and the public to be very generous, signing autographs, being photographed with fans and speaking on stage about the race and racing. The crowd this year and last were very well behaved and this should be publicized. Fong in the black and orange number 8 car should have sought out sponsorship from the Orioles/Cal Ripkin as should any car that sports the color of a home team. This may attract the fans of other sports to this racing event.
Race fans will love this event. There are five different race series over three days. Baltimore is a great place to be for events like this. There are tons of bars and restaurants around the track for extra curricular activities. Lets hope the race is this exciting every year. Living here in Baltimore it is very exciting to see cars racing on the streets that I use to get to work.
I have attended this race in Baltimore the first year as well as this second year. 1) Friday was a disaster! There was a period of about 3 hours that not racing or activities took place! This was due to the problem with the cars going "air-borne" due to the light-rail tracks. The drivers want the speed and space to pass. This track problems needs to be fixed! 2) cross track access is still a big problem! To cross the track to get to Grandstands 5 & 7 you have to pass through the Pavilion at Inner Harbor! Then it is a very long walk to the grandstands. 3) There is no pedestrian traffic allowed on Conway Street from turn 4 to 5 & 6! This requires the spectators to have to go around the front of the convention center and not user friendly! I attend all three days & support this race----but we need some improvements!!!
Don't think the grandstands were positioned in the best areas. Only could get small glimpses of track due to the positioning of the grandstands in between the trees. Although the big video screens of the race coverage were neat.
This was the second year for this event but our first trip up from Virginia. We had great seats in grand stand 9 and great access to see the teams work in the paddock after practice and prior to the race. Only thing that would have been better was knowing how to get access to the premiere drivers. We waited around the paddock area for them and had no luck. If they were only available at certain times, in certain locations, that should be made known so that people who are real fans can have access to them.
