The title really says it all. A fantastic array of musicians coming together for one of their own. A great night!

    Nothing but love

    by Periwinkle6 on 7/23/14Birchmere - Alexandria

The Birchmere was the perfect venue for this event. It's a spacious spot with good food, friendly staff, and plenty of parking. The concert itself was both fun and very moving - truly an unforgettable experience. The Birchmere donated all the money from the price of the tickets to help pay for Grace Griffith's medical therapies. What a fine way to give back to a musician who has given so much of her beautiful self to the D.C. community for many years.

    A room full of love

by FolkCzarina on 7/23/14Birchmere - Alexandria

The event was both a tribute to and a benefit for Grace Griffith, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease a number of years ago. The stage was packed with many of Grace's friends among the D.C.-area musical glitterati -- Tom Paxton, Cathy Fink & Marcy Marxer, Debi Smith, Al Petteway, Lisa Moscatiello, Chris Noyes, Christina Muir, Randy Barrett, Ricky Simpkins, Zan MacLeod, Dave Abe, Lynn Hollyfield, Carey Creed, Lenny Williams, Jim Robison, Tina Clancy - I hope I've remembered everyone. In addition, Grace's new Blix Street CD "Passing Through" was available (and they sold out), so the concert was a CD-release event as well; many of the musicians on-stage are also on the recording. The audience was filled with friends as well -- and their love for Grace was apparent in their response to every song, every tribute, every anecdote, and Grace's droll humor. The concert was worth all the traffic jams I hit on my trip!
