    Goldfrapp...go see them!

by jubalshire on 10/6/13Beacon Theatre - New York City

I went to the Beacon Theatre in N.Y.C. for the only American show by this group. I had never seen them perform live before; so, I had no expectations from them other than what I had seen in videos online. The beautiful music that was created in the theatre that night was magical. Pure and simple. I see an average of a dozen or more shows every year and I must say without doubt; that was one of the best shows I have seen in years. Allison Goldfrapp and the Wordless Orchestra are worth the price of the ticket....go see her/them if you get a chance. You won't be disappointed. Thank you Allison for a wonderful night!

Goldfrapp's Best Live Show So Far!

by majinbuu00 on 9/16/13Beacon Theatre - New York

Goldfrapp celebrated their latest release of "Tales of Us" at the Beacon Theatre with the Wordless Orchestra supporting. It was an amazing night! Alison Goldfrapp was in great spirits and spoke to the audience between each break. The band is fun to watch live.

    goldfrapp at the beacon

by meesalikeu on 9/13/13Beacon Theatre - New York

our 3rd time seeing goldfrapp live. alison was in great voice, but it was just ok. the new story songs are alright, but the music is not very engaging, even with the live addition of the orchestra. the live versions of the new album were somewhat better than the studio versions tho, but not markedly so. later in the show, the rearrangements of the older songs, done to fit the more orchestral mood, were more interesting. all in all one wishes alison would just do a standards/songbook album and tour, get it out of her system and get back to poppier and more lively material.

Beautiful, ethereal, amazing. She didn't sing everything I wanted to hear, mostly more recent stuff, but just... wow.

    LOVE GOLDFRAPP!

by sapphireblue23 on 9/13/13Beacon Theatre - New York

This venue is amazing! Before I purchased tickets, I looked up info on the venue itself, since it's not at a huge amphitheater that's restructured depending on the event. I found that the Loge is the best place for this type of music (I had seen she'd be accompanied by an orchestra). I am so glad I made this decision - my seat ended up being the 2nd row back from the railing and dead center. The songs, ALL off them, felt like i was in a dreamlike state, surrounded by her voice. I can say this for only a handful of artists/singers I've seen live - she is much better in real life. She showed that she also has a bit of dry/dirty sense of humor, at times explaining the meaning of some of the newer songs and joking about how only in England would some of this stuff happen. The show itself was separated into two acts - the first one covering almost the entirety of the newest album and the 2nd (framed as an encore, so that there was no true encore of 2-3 songs) was older songs. I was a slight bit disappointed that her faster tempo'd stuff wasn't performed BUT I guess I can understand, given the classiness of the place and the acoustics probably would have deafened me (some of the instrumental pieces were very loud in the Loge, a couple of times bordering on slightly painful). All in all, A++++ and I would see her anywhere, at (almost) any price.

    Great show with superb musicians

by ml99mos on 9/13/13Beacon Theatre - New York

During the last few years, Alison has become a versatile artist indeed. The arrangements for strings, celli and violoncelli were ambitious but worked very well.

Saw them at the Beacon Theatre, the show was incredible. The only time anyone could look away from the ethereal Alison Goldfrapp was when Will Gregory came out on stage. But then it was back to Alison.

    Worth it

by Novemberman on 8/24/10930 Club - Washington

I flew up to DC to see Goldfrapp's concert, and it was a lovely time. Perhaps it was that I was up front, but I found the opening act, "Cults", to be really charming. The female vocalist was cute and the band was very cordial. This sweetness worked well with their music. When Allison and the band came on stage, the entire room was filled with colorful lights, silver props, and a great energy. She adeptly mixed fan favorites and new material so that the audience was engaged the entire time. Her costumes were great, and they didn't impede her ability to sing and dance along to her music. I loved her band; they were smiling and I got the impression that they were all very glad to be there.
