About

When two sets of parents come together for a civilized evening of coffee, cake and conversation about their misbehaving kids, they quickly find themselves on a comically explosive downhill slide from political correctness to character assassination. Winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Play, God of Carnage is a hilarious look at the minefield of modern relationships. Contains mature language.

    Always enjoy WVU Theater

by DanMc on 10/4/13Gladys G Davis Theatre - Morgantown

We always enjoy attending WVU Theater productions and God of Carnage was no exception. God of Carnage is a four person play consisting of two married couples, parents of two boys who have had an altercation resulting in one of the boys losing two front teeth (and some minor nerve damage). The meeting has been scheduled by the parents of the injured boy to resolve the matter. What ensues is a thought provoking, often hilarious, dialogue which brings out the worst in each of the parents, surfacing their individual insecurities, priorities and prejudices. The sound, lighting and staging added to the presentation and made this for a very enjoyable evening. The Glady G. Davis Theater is a theater in the round which is a great venue for these types of plays.

    Incredible production!!!

by SpoonerInk on 12/6/12Wells Metz Theatre - Bloomington

I went to see "God of Carnage" for a theater class, as a make-up play. OMG!!! This should have been one of our required productions to see. This was, by far, my favorite production that I've seen. And it is one of the best I've seen in a VERY long time. I recommend "God of Carnage" to EVERYONE. For class, a date night, or just if you don't have anything else to do...while it is still available, GO SEE IT!!! You will NOT be disappointed! If you know the backstory of the play, it's about two sets of parents who meet to discuss a physical altercation between their sons, and how they intend to go about "fixing" the problem. But as the evening goes on, they resort to juvenile behavior themselves and never come to a resolution. Absolute hilarity. I thoroughly enjoyed this production. I'm telling you; GO SEE IT!!!

    Dynamite Production

by Seattleplaygoer on 6/25/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Superb acting. Fast paced yet deeply meaningful play about the thin veneer of civilization, liberalism, the challenges of parenting and so much more. Must see this one. Highly entertaining. We love the Signature Theater.

The show was awesome! Not a bad seat in Signature Theatre for this show. Some vulgar language, but overall a really good show. Don't miss it!

    Hysterically funny!

    by Funny123 on 6/25/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Excellent, fast-paced comedy. The acting was top-notch. I highly recommend this to anyone wanting to spend 90 minutes laughing! The theater is small enough that every seat in the house is a good seat.

    An Exercise in Emotions

    by Maura5 on 6/22/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Wow, this play was fantastic! The actors took me through the complete range of emotions known to man...& woman! It was like a window into the basic human condition. Done so well. I highly recommend this play. At once thought-provoking, funny, compassionate, & exhausting!

    Excellent, classic stage play

by twogoodpages on 6/13/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Loved it. Great actors working with a tight, intense script. No intermission, just one set and four actors and mounting tensions and complications. Also very funny. I would love to see it again.

    God of Carnage

by curtainmagic on 6/11/12Signature Theatre - Arlington

Great play, funny and sharp. All the actors were strong. Naomi Jacobson, as usual, delightfully slightly over the edge. Haven't seen a bad performance at Signature Theatre yet.
