About

GOBLIN IN CONCERT:

Italian prog-rock legends Goblin have been making collective hairs stand on end for more than 40 years with their eerie cinematic compositions. Rising to fame in the '70s for their soundtrack contributions to Dario Argento films like Profondo Rosso and Suspiria, the band's creative instrumentation and mastery of suspense music set an industry standard that endures in horror filmmaking to this day. On the road for their first-ever US tour in 2013, Goblin thrilled fans with goosebump-inducing renditions of their most famous themes, building excitement for their live appearances in 2014.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

After several initial incarnations in the early '70s, Goblin solidified their lineup and name to record the soundtrack of Dario Argento's 1975 cult-horror classic Profondo Rosso. Written and recorded in the span of a few days, the film's score was a surprise hit, selling over one million copies and topping Italian charts. They made their album debut a year later with Roller, before once again collaborating with Argento for the soundtrack of 1977's Suspiria. The band continued to release music throughout the late '70s and early '80s before going dark for nearly 20 years. After several reunion outings in the '00s, Goblin embarked on their first-ever North American tour with the bulk of their original lineup in 2013.

FANS WHO BOUGHT TICKETS SAY:

"Seriously, these guys are legends! I have always wanted to see them, and they did not disappoint! They rocked really hard for a band who has been around for so many years, no sequencers, and they were tight!"

"Amazing...These guys were super tight and much heavier than I thought they would be. In Brooklyn we got to meet them, extremely nice guys, very humble."

"Waited more than two decades to see them...and it was totally worth it."

    Come on, dude it’s goblin!

by Jlally on 11/6/23Alex Theatre - Glendale

Goblin is amazing! This is the second time I’ve done an event where I’ve seen goblin play the live soundtrack to a film where the soundtrack was originally done by Simonetti. My friend and I had a great time. They usually pick cool old theaters I would definitely do it again.

    Giallo soundtrack come to life

    by Suedehead1969 on 10/31/23Alex Theatre - Glendale

Fantastic experience seeing and hearing Goblin play the soundtrack along with the movie. Frontman Simonetti has been at this since the 1970's and has made some memorable scores to match equally memorable horror films. Though there are several versions of Goblin touring sometimes concurrently, I feel this version is the one to watch, since Simonetti was a key composer in the group. Seeing the Argento/Bava 80's classic Demons on the big screen was a treat in itself, let alone getting to hear the craftsman behind the soundtrack play along live in person, supported by an incredibly talented and capable band. As an added treat, they followed up the film with a set of classics from their horror discography (Deep Red, Phenomena, Suspiria, etc.), and tossed in a couple of remarkably expanded and arranged covers of much-loved horror themes to Halloween and The Exorcist. All in all, a glorious way to spend a chilly October evening.

The band was really tight, and sounded great along with the movie. After the movie they played some killer songs. Highly recommend seeing the show if you get the chance.
