If you caught one of these shows, you could say you saw a UFC fighter before they were big... except that most of these sturdy, ripped warriors were pretty big to begin with. Regardless, if you're trying to catch an out-of-control MMA (mixed martial arts) fight in Northern California, the Gladiator Challenge at Thunder Valley Casino Resort is your best bet.
Founded in 1999 by veteran UFC fighter Tedd Williams, the Gladiator Challenge is an MMA company that features stars who often graduate to fight in the UFC, Strikeforce, Bellator, Pride, and Elite XC. The explosive fights are all about developing a new generation of fighters who will take the reigns of these organizations in the future. Past competitors include Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, Tyson Griffin, Urijah Faber, and Don "The Predator" Frye. More recent champions include Gareth De La Cruz, Ryan Lilley, and Marcelo Mafra.
Thunder Valley Casino has seen a plethora of awesome events such as Avalanche, Summer Showdown featuring Tatiana Suarez, the All American Bash, the MMA Fighting Championship, Season's Beatings, Holiday Beatings, Fight Club... and that's all just in the span of 18 months. In summer 2019, the venue plays host to the MMA World Championships.
If the fights aren't enticing enough, the Thunder Valley Casino Resort as a destination has taken numerous awards, including AAA's Four Diamond, and has been noted among the "Best in Sacramento" and featured in Casino Player Magazine. The resort's Pano Hall and Summer Concert Series bring in alluring talent to entertain guests, while the Illusions Ultra Lounge promises "Northern California's Premier Ultra Lounge Experience." Additionally, the casino's poker room features top card-playing action, tournaments, and more. Plus, there's a spa. Thunder Valley is located 30 miles north of Sacramento.

For spending money to get front row tickets, I would have liked to know upon purchase that the seats would be behind the red corner where 80% of the trainers that were directed to that corner would be standing up. My husband and I could barely see anything for the majority of the fights. Extremely disappointing. Additionally, one of the seats was blocked by the ring padding where you couldn't see regardless of the trainers. This should have been noted with the ticket purchase. I would have purchased different seats.
