About

GIRLS GUNS AND GLORY IN CONCERT:

Boston-based quartet Girls Guns and Glory make old-time country, rock, and blues inspired by Americana icons like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams. The band is known for their tireless touring (upwards of 200 shows a year), and their powerhouse performances reflect their passion for craft and extensive experience on the road. Frontman Ward Hayden's emotive croon is supported in concert by banjo, honky tonk guitar, upright bass, and drums, and the result is a rollicking sound that stays true to the past while exploring contemporary lyrical themes. From the evocative melodies of "All the Way Up to Heaven" to the rollicking beat of "Maryanne", Girls Guns and Glory always treats ticket buyers to a rousing concert experience anchored in the timeless traditions of early country music.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Girls Guns and Glory was formed in Scituate, MA in 2005 by singer-songwriter Ward Hayden and bassist Bruce Bagley. GGG made its debut the next year with the album Fireworks and Alcohol, following up in 2007 with their sophomore effort Pretty Little Wrecking Ball. That album was a hit with critics and earned them a strong regional fanbase as well as a Boston Music Award for Best Americana Act. The band bolstered their growing reputation with relentless touring, playing hundreds of shows each year and getting an additional BMA nomination for Live Artist of the Year. Following 2008's Inverted Valentine and 2011's Sweet Nothings, GGG released their fifth album Good Luck to a flurry of acclaim in 2014, including a spot on Rolling Stone's Fall 2014 "10 New Artists You Need to Know" list.

by paulyandeileeny on 2/11/14The Sinclair - Cambridge

swinging steaks were really good. The food at the Sinclair was a 3.5 out of a 10 scale. below 3 is uneatable.

Borges rocked, the audience was a detraction

    by h444 on 2/10/14The Sinclair - Cambridge

One of the headliners, Borges, showed her skills and performed well, especially with the guest mandolinist. The audiences in Cambridge--or just at the Sinclair-- tend not to be attentive. So much chatter ruined the show.
