About

Girl Talk on Tour

Girl Talk (aka Pittsburgh's Gregg Gillis) has been constructing meticulous sample-based music since 2000. His early work was known for its raw experimental nature, but by the release of his 2006 album, Night Ripper, that style evolved into genre-smashing, breakneck-paced party jams. Night Ripper consisted of over 300 songs, from wildly disparate Top 40 genres and eras, mashed up and layered together into one cohesive collage. It received critical acclaim, and the attention resulted in a rapidly growing fan base. Gillis ended up quitting his biomedical engineering day job one year later.

Girl Talk continued to develop his signature style with the release of Feed the Animals in 2008 and All Day in 2010. Each album grew increasingly detailed and complex. He steadily toured over the following years, bringing his renowned confetti-covered and sweat-soaked performances to venues ranging from house party basements to major festivals. By 2014, Gillis began focusing on collaborative work producing hip hop for some of his favorite rap artists. That same year, he released "Broken Ankles," an EP with Freeway. Since "Broken Ankles", Gillis has steadily earned an impressive list of production credits and collaborations with his artistic contemporaries including, but not limited to, Wiz Khalifa, T-Pain, Tory Lanez, Young Nudy, Bas, Cozz, Erick The Architect (from Flatbush Zombies), Smoke DZA, and Don Q. Over the course of his career, Girl Talk has packed venues such as Buckhead Theatre (Atlanta), Stage AE (Pittsburgh), and Saint Andrews Hall (Detroit) to capacity.

Saw him ten years ago and he was actually spinning, this time he just danced around in front of his lab top.

They should charge $50 for tickets and have ice cream. $10 is too cheap

    Staying true to roots!

    by N.A.S. on 5/3/22STAGE AE - Pittsburgh

Being a fan of GirlTalk for many years I was anxious to see if he would stay true to his music after all these years. The last time I attended one of his shows was 12 years ago actually at Stage AE. Wonderous time. I had purchased the tickets for this show two years ago and due to the VID, it was postponed. I was excited to say the least when it was finally rescheduled and the night had come. I am pretty current with djs and their evolution over the years. I was hoping that GT wouldnt change and stay true to his roots. Well... when he came out w his stage full of misfits and costumes, i knew that was a solid sign. The music was a trip from early 2000s to current tracks. I couldnt be happier especially being from the burgh myself. The set was high bpm w so many crowd pleasing mixes. Dude was just as energetic as he was 12 years ago! Well done and kudos.
