About

After spending much of 2013 focusing on his R&B supergroup TGT -- which also features Tyrese and Tank -- Ginuwine shifted his attention to his solo work with the planned 2014 release of a new album titled Old School Young -- his first solo recording since 2011's Elgin. His successful stint with TGT included the release of an album titled Three Kings, which hit No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart, and a tour that had fans snapping  up tickets for concerts in major performing arts centers.

Ginuwine, born Elgin Baylor Lumpkin, is a native of Washington, D.C. who grew up listening to the music of Michael Jackson and Prince, which inspired him to begin performing. After he was discovered by the R&B group Jodici in 1996, he was signed by Epic Records and released his debut album, titled Ginuwine... The Bachelor. It spawned the hit single "Pony," which is a good example of his influential brand of hip-hop soul. Among the other hits in Ginuwine's catalog, which inspired young stars like Ne-Yo and Chris Brown, are "Differences," "In Those Jeans," and "So Anxious."

    Overall disappointed

by Rere on 3/19/24Ameristar Casino and Hotel - Kansas City

I recently attended Ginuwine's concert at the Ameristar Casino in Kansas City on March 15, 2024, with high expectations, looking forward to an evening filled with nostalgic hits and energetic performances. Unfortunately, the event fell short of my expectations in several key areas. Firstly, the acoustics of the venue did not do justice to the performance. The sound quality was underwhelming, which significantly affected the overall experience. Music, especially live performances, relies heavily on good sound, and this was a letdown. Moreover, Ginuwine's performance itself was disappointing. It seemed as if he was disconnected from his own music, failing to perform a majority of his well-known songs. The energy and passion I was hoping to see were absent; it felt as if the artist had forgotten his own discography. This was surprising and disheartening, as the essence of a live concert is to connect with the music on a deeper level. Adding to the disappointment was the merchandise. The T-shirt crew, selling what was supposed to be branded merchandise, offered items that didn't seem to align with Ginuwine's brand. This inconsistency further detracted from the overall experience, as every aspect of an event contributes to its success or failure. Reflecting on the evening, I wish I had skipped this concert. It's painful to witness a poor performance from an artist you admire and respect. The experience was far from what I had anticipated, leaving me with memories of a show that didn't live up to expectations. It's a stark reminder that not all live performances can recapture the magic of an artist's recorded work.

    Ginuwine

by Guy on 2/27/24Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort and Casino - Mescalero

The concert itself was good, but for the prices of good seats and the show only lasting an hour and 15 minutes was not worth the ticket prices. Should have included an opening act.

Extended songs way too much and show was barely over an hour.

    The Best Experience

by Candy on 1/25/24Packard Music Hall - Warren

I have been to concerts in the past but this one was by far the best concert Ive ever attended. I had seating close to the stage. I attended this concert by myself. I made quite a few friends here. The best experience I had was when I was able to do a “Meet and Great” with Ginuwine! I was so happy I cried tears of joy. I am a big fan of Ginuwine and I am so grateful to have this experience.

The show was amazing! He performed all of my favorite songs. The 90’s vibe of the show made me feel young again. I would 10/10 attend his show again if he comes to our area, my wife & I truly enjoyed it!
