This is not really an entertainment event

by JillB67 on 11/22/16Sony Centre for the Performing Arts - Toronto

My husband and I brought our 22 year old son to Toronto for a fun weekend. Because this event was in honor of Gilda Radner and hosted by a stand up comedian, I made an incorrect assumption that they would actually want people to have fun and enjoy themselves. Though the talent was all great and had donated their time, overall there was a whole lot of amateurs that took the stage and talked way too long about things that were not of interest to anyone unconnected with the organization. There was a 30 minute overly-dramatic speech by a parent of a child with cancer that would have been very effective if it had been edited down to 5-10 minutes, but by the time it was over I was frustrated by how long it had been and any enjoyment from the evening was killed. This show has no sense of flow and is not primarily about entertainment. If you are not connected to Gilda's club but want to support it, send in a check and go to Second City instead.

    A Sure Miss!

by XO12 on 6/12/12Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

The entire evening was a bust. Theater had sound problems and first half of show was totally inaudible from mezzanine where we sat. Entire audience thought they had hearing problems and it turned out sound was muddled due to bad sound work plus performers who raced through all their joke lines. Complaints were made during intermission but it didn't get much better. Some of the comics weren't funny at all.

    Eh

by Tulip24 on 6/11/12Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I came out to support a good cause but the comedians, all but one, were not funny at all. They were Chelsea Handler-types.

    laughout loud3

by Anonymous on 6/11/12Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

I wanted to like it, but the comedians were very poor - and the audio system was not adjusted well for the first act. It was way too loud and hard to understand and then when the sound was adjusted and you could hear, the comedian were not funny...

    Pumps and Punchlines

by Anonymous on 6/11/12Bergen Performing Arts Center - Englewood

This event was somewhat disappointing, in that only two of the comedians were funny. The two Erins were very funny, but Rachel Feinstein was funnier to herself than the audience. I found her humor unoriginal, in that, everyone talks about their mothers and grandmothers in the same way. And the last comedian of the night seemed to be angry at the audience for not laughing at her long, drawn-out, non-funny anecdotes.
