About

GEOGRAPHER IN CONCERT:

Triumphant indie band Geographer is rising to the top the underground music scene with a unique blend of classical elements and modern synth-rock. Commanding the stage with his pristine, angelic vocals and his experimental synth playing, lead singer Michael Deni soars over Nathan Blaz's smooth cello melodies and Brian Ostreicher's detailed drum patterns. At their live shows the group feeds off of each others' energy and gets the crowd pumped as they jump from the stage and stand in the audience on fan favorites like "Original Sin" and "Kites". Geographer's insanely catchy music and captivating stage presence is sure to have concertgoers in a dancing frenzy all night long on their lively tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Hailing from San Francisco, California, Geographer started out as the solo project of Michael Deni, who stumbled upon an old synthesizer and began experimenting with different sounds. He met bandmates Nathan Blaz and Brian Ostreicher -- both Berklee College of Music alums -- during one of his open mic nights and the three decided to form a band. The trio gained popularity with their 2008 release Innocent Ghosts but didn’t truly break out until the release of their Animal Shapes EP in 2010. The album attracted national attention from major publications like Spin and Paste and put them on the indie music radar. They followed up in 2012 with Myth, which was an instant success and earned the band a touring gig alongside Miniature Tigers. Since then Geographer has had their music featured on numerous television series, appeared at major festivals nationwide, opened for Foster the People and Tokyo Police Club, and sold out nearly every headlining tour they've been on. Geographer never fails to disappoint eager fans with their dance-worthy collection of hits on their can't-miss tours.

Geographer and Sure Sure incredible night

by AlexAlvarado on 8/1/18The Fillmore - San Francisco

The show was amazing. This was my first time at the Fillmore and my 3rd show with Sure Sure. I lived them performing and I had just gotten into Geographer, so that made the rest of the night totally amazing and debatably one of the best concerts I've ever been to.

    Geographer and the crookes

by Agmendoza on 4/6/16Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

Honestly, the best concert I have been to yet, both bands were amazing and they both stayed after the show to meet and greet with the fans. They signed autographs and took photos with anyone that wanted one. But the actual concert itself was unforgettable. Thanks guys.

Great Venue , Geographers were great!!!

by Ralphieboynoise on 4/6/16Teragram Ballroom - Los Angeles

It was my first time for bothe the cenue and the band. Both were great. I try to see live bands and in different venues as often as possible. This venue is definitely on my list of intimate venues or good venues in general. Its not huge but its not small either. Its a good size. And catching random bands is always great. Its like looking for gems. As for the band...wow! Im suprised they werent @ a bigger venue or there weren't a lot more people. It was a good crowd still though. Glad I was able to catch them here. I recommend both the venue and band to anyone who hasn't seen or heard of both. Thumbs up for sure. PS, if you look up Ralphieboynoise on youtube I'll have video up soon. Wasnt uploaded @ the time of this review.

    Geographer was AWESOME as always!

by Mantoandthebear on 3/2/15Fox Theater - Oakland - Oakland

Since this show as a label tour, there were three opening acts, NONE of which we were interested in seeing, which is why this rating isn't 5 stars. Since we had to sit through so many openers, Geographer didn't come on until 10:00 pm. All the awful bands before them made their coming onstage extra awesome, though, and they performed GREAT! Would always recommend a show with Geographer, just wish they didn't come onstage so late.

With the lead singer hitting such great notes on their album Animal Shapes, I went in not knowing whether they'd be outstanding live or just average. They totally blew me away and were absolutely flawless all the way through. Can't recommend them enough. They are destined for big things...
