Having been to Bali several times and seen many gamelan concerts with dancers, this troupe, although enthusiastic, was quite average in training and performance.
This is, by far the best performance of Gamelan I have ever seen. A mix of traditional and new, the players and dancers genuinely having a great time. The improvised kecak was astounding.
The only instruments were of bamboo and bronze. The sounds they were able to make will dazzle you. Ancient music from the earth. Simple yet astounding in the symphonic complexity. Not to be missed.
