An evening of eclectic sounds
by WPPat on 2/2/16Bowery Ballroom - New YorkI enjoyed the Givers. They were a little more guitar driven than I would have thought from some of their videos. While Tiffany Lamson and Taylor Guarisco kept things upbeat with their inspired vocals. Josh LeBlanc, the driven one, was often lost in his guitar jams. Nick Stephan, he of the sun dress and full head of hair flopping to and fro, makes it clear this is far more than just your average folk group turned jam band. Kirby Campbell's drums rounds out the quintet. Certainly a band worth checking out. A real surprise was Doe Paoro's beautiful voice. I had never heard of her, but was pleasantly surprised. Her full vocals had a hint of Natalie Merchant to them. Sonnymoon was a little bit unsettling for me. Anna Wise's anguished shrieks while cutting edge and guttural to some, sounded like someone caught in a Vincent Price B movie torture chamber.
