    So much fun

by kymani on 5/12/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

It was awesome getting to ride rides and having so much fair food available. And I've wanted to see the Smashing Pumpkins for about 15 years now, so that was awesome! And it wasn't packed either, I got right up front for the concert and never waited more than 5 minutes for a ride. I want to go again next year!

    Ted, REO, STYX

by mross014 on 5/9/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

Ted Nuggent played some good music. REO was loud and flashy, but I think STYX rocked the joint. They really played the old favorites with passion. I think STYX was the best. Another note: I was disappointed that we were told there is NO tailgaiting allowed. We were harrassed about 10 times. We weren't grilling, just drinking and chilling. We were told we need to go inside. (They just wanted us to spend our money at the vendors.) We all banded together (with other tailgaiters) and stayed outside until the main show. Met some good people. Tailgating is essential for a concert, it's half the fun.

Well Planned, Good Value, Great Music!

by Loralinda on 5/9/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

The event was VERY well organized, the prices were kept at a reasonable amount, which undoubtedly helped ticket sales tremendously! There were great acts there all 3 days. Adding rides for no additional cost was a wonderful idea - trying though to figure out why some of the rides DID have an additional charge (?) My ONLY suggestions would be to definitely keep the prices low like they were so more people can enjoy & attend and that the 3rd day (Sunday) should not have been "billed/advertised" as the "Country Music day"-there were quite a few other bands there (Tonic, The Wallflowers, a Beatles tribute band "Yesterday", etc., etc.) that were NOT country. I believe a lot of people didn't go on Sunday because of that.

    IT's a MIDWAY

by Rasincane on 5/7/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

First and foremost , Sunday was a BEAUTIFUL Florida day. That alone was worth getting out for. This is a Midway attached to a Concert venue- the Florida Ampitheatre(Ask Gary). What this means- We arrived around 12:30, the event opened at 11AM. Very few folks were there making it easy to access rides and no waiting. The bands playing during the day at the stage were good and engaging. No bands played on Sunday in the AMP until 4:30 that I knew of. So we rode rides, slides and ate fair food. Was it worth $30pp plus $10 to park? Jury is still out on that. Would I go again? Yes, if I planned it out better to see one of the main event bands like Train, or the like. I think if the event planners got some other interesting performances simultaneaously going on to engage the attendees like a Cooking demonstration or Juggling/dance acts -it would make for more to do while wating for main bands to play. The Giraffe petting zoo was about all there was other than rides and really bad retail kiosks(think sunglasses, cowboy hats and smokeless tobacco)

    AWSOME

by Sandy341 on 5/7/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

I loved the show. I wish Styx would have been the headliner. I just like them a lot. REO was better than the last time I saw them. The show was fun and energetic with Styx and REO. What can I say about good Ole Ted. He was different. This was my first time seeing him and he is different.. Overall it was a GREAT SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Wallflowers were exceptional

by AnnieFanny6789 on 5/7/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

They were the reason we came, and deserved a better venue. The event has potential, but was not widely known about. The tribute band we saw (Yesterday) was a good fit. We would have seen Sticky Fingers but they were on at the same time as the Wallflowers so we missed them.

    Funshine Music Festival

by Floridahdrider on 5/7/13Live Nation Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds - Tampa

This was an event that the promoters billed as a festival with very little information available to the ticket purchaser other than the musical acts. It was not know until the day of the event that the midway rides were free. But the best kept secret was the NO TAILGATING policy that was posted at the entrance of the event. This was never mentioned when purchasing the tickets. You were not even allowed to sit in a chair by your vehicle; no food or beverage, just to sit. Promoters obviously missed the mark on advertising the event because on Sunday the Live Nation Amphithetre was EMPTY maybe selling 1/3 of the seats. When the concert was over, no one was allowed to leave at the usual concert exit which goes directly to the parking lot. We were herded like cattle back through the fair grounds for one more chance to purchase over priced food and drink!
