    FUNKY...jazz

by Chelle on 8/13/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta

I was disappointed with this experience. Compared to those in the past, I have to give it a one. The sound and light crew need new jobs. If this was/is the last one- performances should have been on a bigger scale. This definitely would not make me spend my funds to see anyone on a cruise line.THUMBS DOWN!

    Funkjazz Original Lifer

by HWALL on 8/13/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta

Obviously security is a absolute must in our time of domestic terrorism, but the super aggressive pat-down frisk is simply uncomfortable. Also, the Tabernacle sound system needs a overhaul or be replaced. It took them half the show to get it right. The Tabernacle has to understand that the digital technology in other ATL venues are superior. Overall, it’s still a great venue with good customer service. With a few technical facility adjustments the venue will be right back on the excellence level.

    Good last show

by Mr Bless on 8/13/19Tabernacle presented by Cricket Wireless - Atlanta

I been going to this event since the 90s. The last one was good, the sound system had issues at times and no big named acts performed. But overall a good event. The tabernacle is a great place to hold event like this at, with the multiple floors and different experiences. Too bad its the last one.

    A great event!

by PatrickInAtl on 11/5/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

The music and crowd were amazing. All of the bands and singers were fantastic. I could have done without the MC and all of his unnecessary chatter. Man! Introduce the band and get off of the stage!

Funk Jazz Kafe Not A Good Experience

    by PercyB3 on 8/1/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

My wife and I went for the first time. I saw the movie on Thursday and was looking forward to the show of Saturday... 1. There was a long wait outside...did not open the doors until after 9:00 when it should have been opened at 8:00 2. Listened to a DJ for over an hour...If we had known it was mostly about a DJ we would have gone to a club 3. We left after Bobby MacFarren's son performed because it was getting late. 4. Food options were limited

    Funk Jazz Fun!

    by dbe704 on 8/1/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

Overall, it was a fun-filled night at Funk Jazz Kafe, with high energy and a great crowd. The DJ was amazing spinning old school jams to head-bopping fans who danced in the aisles and sang their favorite songs. Although I enjoyed myself, there were a few areas where I was disappointed. There was a 2 hour wait prior to the doors opening which was an unpleasant surprise. Staff informed us that they were waiting for Tabernacle reps to unlock the doors. We did not enter until almost 9pm. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a big name closing act especially for a 20 Yr. anniversary celebration. I had higher expectations since Jill Scott and other big names graced the stage in the past.

    Worst Experience Ever!

by LastFunkJazzKafe on 7/29/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

After waiting outside until 9:10pm for 8:00pm show, I should have know this was going to be a bad night. Music did not start until 11:53pm. Then you made us listen to two producers with "beat machines". Could not take anymore once Backbone took to stage at 1:30am. Worst concert experience of my life.

    Very Disappointed

by UnhappyParticipant on 7/29/14The Tabernacle - Atlanta

This was my first time at FunkJazz Kafe'. I had heard so much about it from a past concert goer, she raved that for the past 6 years she had not been disappointed. So I purchased two tickets for myself and another first timer. We were very unhappy. First the website as well as our tickets said that the show started at 8pm. We got there at 7:00am to wait in line to get the balcony seats. They did not open the doors until 8:45pm. The DJ was awesome I must admit. If it was not for him, this event would have been a total bust. The first act did not come on until 11:30ish. I am all for supporting local upcoming acts, but for your 20th anniversary you could not afford one good big act or headliner? Speech from arrested development is every where in Atlanta. If you go to any concert in Atlanta he will most likely make an appearance. Bottom line: This event was not even worth the $35 per ticket price. It should have been $10 or even a free event!
