Funk-a-palooza was a fun event. I enjoyed hearing music from my childhood, it reminded me of some of the best times in my life! The bands sounded great, the singing was incredible.

    Bar-Kay's still outstanding

by TDMorris on 5/28/14Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

Ok, let me start with the best.....and that was with out a doubt the Bar-Kays what a show....the energy was the best and showmanship was awesome....a must see....now with the not so good...Cameo the band I actually came to see was a bit of a disappointment....show was a bit lackluster and not up to par....the band seemed a little disorganized and Larry didnt seem to be involved in the show as I thought he would...he continued to walk off the stage after introducing some of the songs...so I was pleased that taste of honey and the bar kays did such a great job that I was able to give a good review because if it was just a review of Cameo...I would not have been so generous!

    Funk-A-Palooza they still got it!

by winsgirl on 5/28/14Paragon Casino Resort - Marksville

The bands were great. They interacted with the crowd but not to the point where u were singing the songs for them. Taste of Honey was awesome she had a pinched nerve in her arm and still gave a stellar performance. I am glad i had tickets in the section where i did because we were the "LIVELY"bunch, would have hated to sit near "DOWNERS".

    Where's The Brides Of Funkenstein?

    by LovFunk2 on 6/22/11Las Vegas - NV

Cameo and Confunshion two thumbs up!. Zapp? They was running tracks. I love Zapp, but I can listen to their records at home. They should have announced that it was a tribute to the Mary Jane Girls cause they were not the originals. Their show was kind of weak too. What I didn't understand is why they would have a knock off Mary Jane group on a Funk-A-Palooza concert, and not the Brides of Funkenstein. I saw the Brides last year at the Long Beach Funk Festival and they were amazing. I forgot how incredible their voices were , and those ladies sang on all those P-Funk hits. I was hoping I'd see them again with Parliament. They really needed them too, cause the weakest performance, I'm sad to say, was Clinton & Company. They influenced bands like Cameo and Zapp. But without the Brides and original band members, they were nothing more than a weak sounding cover band.

All the bands EXCEPT George Clinton were great

by RunningMo on 3/31/11Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

Really enjoyed ZAPP, CAMEO, CONFUNKSHUN and the MARY JANE GIRLS... But George Clinton and P_FUNK got lost in translation. Even though GC always has a lot of people on stage at his concerts he always stood out. Now he looks like a "old Rick Ross" and kept disappearing into the sea of people. (Literally 50+ people on the stage doing nothing.) His voice was raspy and garbled and Flavor Flav was running around the stage as a annoying pitchman. He had his granddaughter come on stage and do some rap about t*tties and p*ssy. I was VERY DISSAPPOINTED. We left about 5 minutes into his performance. I am a huge fan of FUNK so if he has another concert I would probably buy tickets in hopes of seeing the REAL GEORGE CLINTON. Overall, I would still recommend this concert. Even the "headliner" failed, the other groups ROCKED THE HOUSE and the DJ was superb!

    Expected to be 'transported'...

by CCinLV on 3/30/11Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

The selection of artists was good. The music was really good. But we just didn't get what we anticipated. Expected a Parliament Funkadelic experience at the end but the 'experience' wasn't there. Expected to be 'transported', the mother-ship landed but it didn't take back off. For some reason they didn't really play the 'fan favorites' and for the first 40 minutes, George wasn't even onstage. There wasn't much of a "show", the band was great but there was no stage show, no costumes really and George kind of looked like he was at a mic check versus a performance. By the end of the show there had to be upwards of 65 people just milling around onstage. I would recommend this show for the fabulous music but be prepared if you are expecting that George Clinton/Parliament showmanship.

    The Funk Was Missing

by NOBULLC on 3/25/11Planet Hollywood - Las Vegas

I go back 40 years as a Funkadelic fan. I first found them in a record store in Niles, Michigan and it was the album cover that first caught my eye. The artist who did the album art was phenominal. I remember reading the names of the songs and asked the guy working to play it for me. After a few minutes I told him I'd take it. The album was America Eats Its Young. To this day I still have and play that album among many others. Funkadelic became my favorite all time band. I've seen them 4 times over the years prior to March 19th 2011, even saw them last year, made a special trip to LA and the Funk was spot on, tight as ever, the crowd was mixed mostly young (I was suprised). I, my wife and the rest of the crowd stood most of the show singing along with the band and dancing, it was fantastic. Everyone was completely Funked up heck, I talked about the show for weeks. On March 19th the songs were unrecognizable, I didnt hear those sweet soulful voices, the lead guitar playing wasnt even close to true to the original recordings, just screaming for one and a half hours. I would have left early like most everyone else except I'd invited 8 others, one couple came from as far as Indiana. Sad and, that night I decided to never see Funkadelic live again, I would rather keep the memories of the 4 times they did great live shows. And when I want the Funk I will play a record on my turntable or listen to my Ipod. Too bad, they werent good to my earhole. Let the Funk Live On Forever!

    Cameo off the hook. Fantastic

by MissCharley on 3/24/11Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino - Las Vegas

Very disappointing last act (Clinton, Funkadelics, Parlament). Really disappointing. Especially when the house music was kicking. The green troll (Flavor Flave) on stage made matters worse. Half of audience cleared out within five minutes of them taking stage. Other bands were absolutely FANTASTIC. Saw Bootsy'sParlafunkadelicment in seventiesshow was off the chain, memorable to this day. SO DISAPPOINTED AFTER ALL THESE YEARS.
