This show sent chills up my spine! The young musicians were so talented, it was thrilling. Without a doubt, one of the most unique and fulfilling musical experiences ever. Great show
For those not familiar go to the from the top web page, great initiative! The show features musically inclined and super talented kids. At today's show we were able to see a few local kids as well as some who have travelled to share their gifts with us. From strings, piano, and operatic performance, these kids will surely prove to be the future, our future, in the classical arts. As a former violinist, I must say there were spans of time where I sat with tears of joy and longing that I believe only a former musician can grasp. Such talent is an inspiration to start again. Thanks to the performers and is hope they continue to earn the support that has gotten them this far!
The musicians were inspiring, and mesmerizing. Interesting to be a part of a live taping, as though we the audience were secondary. A part of the process but not the main audience. I listen to From the Top regularly on our local NPR station and it sounds entirely different on radio than live. But to watch the musicians and what they put in to their playing: priceless. I will listen with a different ear now.
I was at the taping for From the Top, and it was fantastic. The quality of the production, along with the talent of the musicians, including Christopher O'Riley was great.

From the Top was its usual good show. However, at $35, the cost is excessive ce for a 70-minute show. I can get 2 hrs of symphony for slightly more.
I have been a fan of From the Top for years. When I saw it was going to be in Portland, I bought tickets for me and my violin playing 5 year old granddaughter. I wanted to show role models for inspiration and see youngsters who have everyday foibles of teenage life and yet perform with such amazing talent. We were not disappointed.
