Just Give Me Doug E. Fresh

by yellowgirl27292 on 6/14/13Fresh Music Festival Greensboro Coliseum - Greensboro

I was so excited to be attending the concert along with some friends. To my dismay I found myself sitting down the majority of the time. I was not impressed with none of the performers at all!!!!!!!!! But then when Doug E. Fresh came on the stage and gave us a mini concert that's when the party started for me. I am the biggest Doug E. Fresh fan ever!!!!!! I wish that he could have done the show along with the other performers being fillers. Doug E. Fresh brought the house down and the crowd was up singing along and dancing. When he left the stage I was back in my seat wondering if Doug E. Fresh would reappear. The sound was horrible and it took the performers the longest to come on stage. All in all shoutout to the one and only Doug E. Fresh for making the show.

    Doug E Fresh <3

by YoungOldSchoolFan on 6/9/13Lafayette Cajundome - Lafayette

I've been meaning to review this for a while now. So the show was good, it was pretty average. Though I am part of the younger fan base of Keith Sweat, I really liked the show. I was 18 when I went to the show, and it was my first legit concert, so I was pretty nervous, and even when I wanted to interact and stand up when they were asking ladies to stand or scream or whatever to show they're something, I couldn't because everyone there was there to talk about and hear about some "good lovemaking," and it was extremely uncomfortable for me. I went mainly for Keith Sweat, K-Ci & JoJo, and SWV. First of all, the comedian--I don't even know the guy's name, but he was incredibly crude. He had his funny moments, but for the most part, he was mainly just joking about sex and people in the audience, and he wasn't really funny at all to me. They could have kept him wherever he was before he came here. Doug E Fresh--Oh my goodness, I did not grow up with Doug E Fresh, and I wasn't really exposed to his music (I was born in the 90s) but when he was on stage, I had wished I had. He gave his own little performances while the music was playing and the other artists were getting ready to go onstage. He kept it fun for us. He even played around with us a little with dances. He showed us various versions of the real "Dougie" dance, and it was so entertaining. He danced old school dances with us, too, it was so fun. He even gave us some of the original beatboxing, and it was so amazing to actually experience that from the first human beatbox. When they would be playing songs during the breaks, he would come out on stage and stop the music for a hip hop song, especially his, and he would just perform it for us. I was a little jealous and ashamed that I didn't really know a lot of his songs to be able to sing along with him. I really had wished he had performed for most of the show, or in the place of most of K-Ci & JoJo's performance, Guy's performance, and even Keith Sweat's performance. I didn't expect to enjoy Doug E Fresh as much as I did, but by the second break between artists, I was begging for him to come back to the stage...and stay there. He needs to host another show, but with old school hip hop artists. That would be so boss for me, and I would love to attend it. He was so great. Needless to say, K-Ci & JoJo really disappointed me. I was so excited to see them, but all there was was screaming...I really wished they had just sang some a few good songs greatly and left. They were decent for some songs, but overall, I was really disappointed. Guy--I'm too young to really have known him (for one song, he was like, "Aw yeah, take it back to 1989"---I wasn't even born then lol) but I recognized a few of his songs, but...he isn't unforgettable for me. All I remember is he took his shirt off. He sings well though. SWV--My ladies, you completely brought the show up for me. They had their old music videos playing behind them as they performed, which was so nostalgic, and they still have such lovely voices. They performed all of our favorite hits and then some and even sang from their new album for us. They were a highlight of my night. Keith Sweat--You would think with the amount of time we waited for him, we would have been dazzled by his performance...it wasn't that great. I wish he would have just sung rather than try to put on an act. He sang some good songs, his voice is still there. But his whole act was pretty wack. He basically was trying to seduce this girl from the audience who he had put into a small dress of his choosing. To me, it was really awkward and unnecessary, but again, I was 18 at the time, and this was my first legit concert. Also, the dancers...they were forgettable. Anyway, I think he expected us all to be so enthusiastic and bowing to his feet when he came up, but mostly everybody was beginning to leave before he even finished his performance. When he did finish, though, he quickly walked off the stage without even saying "thank you." It was more of a "I gave this to you, you're welcome" kind of exit. It was an incredibly crude performance and a rude behavior for his exit.

Need to know if anyone know why they canceled the rest of the tour? I saw someone say there were no more dates on the review from Indy. I saw a month ago they had more dates coming... Please say it is because OF THEIR SOUND SYSTEM. I will be greatly disappointed if they haven't figured it out by now and have replaced it. Looking forward to Keith Sweat the most. Have seen his shows before & he has still GOT IT! From the reviews & videos I have seen so far on this tour I am scared for a few reasons... KC & JoJo.. wondering if they are going to figure out they should try their very best at just their best hits. And not scream and sound horrible like I heard about and saw on videos

Doug E. Fresh is a great emcee! However, he must work on the acts for his tour. I wish he would have done his own songs as well. He didn't even give us a tease. The comedian was G-Thang and he was great! I've seen him on tv a number of times and he is better in person! K-Ci and JoJo did ok on the first song and it was down hill from there (taking off the shirt, being carried through the audience, screaming instead of singing, etc.). I wanted so much for them to sing two songs well and leave with dignity. Aaron Hall was so disrespectful. It was hard to listen to his mini tirades and he took his shirt off too! Someone please make it stop! Even some of the young ones don't have the body for it now or ever. His vocals were decent however. SWV did well. They sang and presented themselves professionally. Many people are not as shapely as when they started out but they handled themselves well because they are real singers. They stood out as the real professionals of the bunch. Now for Keith Sweat. He has so many hits and I wanted him to just sing. I saw him with LSG and he was great and he sounds the same. He lost me when he spent 20 minutes finding girls for the stage. He was telling them to hurry up because he's been reading the tweets that it takes too long for him to do his stage act. It felt like 45 minutes with him talking to one in particular. He did a little singing and suddenly picked the girl up with her legs wrapped around his waist...and she had a short clingy dress on! He said he had to put her down because he could feel it about to come up and off. Why pick the poor girl up to begin with? Oh brother, it was a mess. Everyone was looking at each other. He should just sing. I won't even talk about the dancers behind him while he was singing. Someone already posted to the effect that more professional and better looking dancers would do the show for free just to have the opportunity to dance for Keith Sweat. I still love his music but he has to work on the act or just sing! How's that for a concept? I give the show 3 stars because I still had fun hearing all the old songs Doug E Fresh had the DJ play. The songs the musicians sang were songs that I remembered and could sing along with.

    Disappointed!

    by BFab40 on 8/4/12Municipal Auditorium - Nashville

I came to see Guy and Keith Sweat and I was so disappointed! Ok...first Guy. Aaron Hall was a hot mess! First of all, his vocals were not as good as they used to be. Then he started going off about how he hasn't seen his child in several years and that is ok with him because he is not going to let a court tell him when he can see his child, and how he just told his baby's momma that she can just have the child! He gave bad advice to all of the other deadbeat dads out there! Teddy Riley was sorely missed! Then Keith Sweat...he was good but he spent too much time with his stage act with getting a girl. He didn't sing all of the hits either. Jodeci...they did well actually. SWV...they were pretty good. Just couldn't get past the white jeans that they wore that did not compliment their figures. The kept turning their backs to the audience...not a pretty sight. Doug E. was good. I missed Slick Rick though because he only gave us teases of his songs. He was very entertaining though! The concert was much better in my head. I should have saved my money and just bought the CDs!

Luckily Indianapolis didn't get the show cancelled. Idk why but the rest of the Fresh Fest tour dates were cancelled after, 7/21. Overall it was a good show. K-Ci and JoJo were a hott mess but they def put forth a strong effort. The sound also kept messing up, and they cussed out the soundstage ppl, lol. SWV was great. Vocals were on point, and their stage presence was everything. Doug E Fresh kept the crowd hype and he did a great job. Guy was ok, but Aaron Hall was doing the most. Keith Sweat looked good and sounded good as well. Overall it was a good show.

    Disappointed in San Diego:(

by GigiG on 7/15/12Valley View Casino Center - San Diego

If you look at the first reviews, you will see that the audience was completely dissatisfied with the performers, the production as well as the sound engineering. I am here to say that nothing has changed. In fact, at the end of the concert, Keith Sweat the master beggar himself, begged people to post positive reviews and send positive tweets about the concert. Have you ever been to a concert where the performer does this??? Not me!!! Now for my review…..sound engineering was awful. At one point during Keith Sweat’s performance, it sounded as if there was another band warming up backstage…to a different song!!! The sound throughout the concert was horrible!!! With that being said, let’s talk about performers! SWV was great! They can actually sing:) Of course, the sound made it seem as though they were screaming at times, but that was no fault of theirs. Next….Guy….I mean if you can call it “Guy”. How are you going to have basically two backup singers sing a repertoire of songs without the “real” lead singer, Teddy Riley??? When they first started performing, they were sooooo off key!!! Likewise, when they came out, they tried to dance like they were still in the 80’s, New Jack style. Too funny!!! Aaron Hall went on to gyrate without his shirt. Why??? If you are going to take off your shirt, please have a chest that is more defined than my 11 year old son’s!! Next….K Ci & Jo Jo. Now I have seen them before and they did rather well despite spotty performances at other arenas. This performance??? All I can say is crack is whack!!! Jo Jo couldn’t carry a tune if it was packaged in a cocaine baggy. Boys, it’s time to give it up. I was absolutely sooooo embarrassed for them! Truly sad! Next…Doug E Fresh…very entertaining!! Can’t go wrong since he didn’t have to sing:) I heard that he had been the MC in past shows…wish he had been one for this show too!! Next….Keith Sweat!! I was sooooo excited as I had seen him perform before as well and he was great! Uh oh…the first song was awful. I couldn’t figure out if it was the sound engineer or him! Luckily his vocals improved however the sound engineering didn’t. On the down side…who the hell were those girls dancing for him??? I have never seen a hefty dancer with lumpy thighs and cellulite performing in booty shorts during a performance!! The dancers weren’t in sync and at times, forgot their dance moves. Keith!!! I know we are in a recession, but DAMN!!!!...I know some girls that are better dancers that would jump at the opportunity to perform for free!! Likewise, who in the heck produced Keith’s show?? He spent too much damn time picking out girls in the audience to join him on stage!!! Just sing!!! Overall!! Worst concert I have ever been to!!

    Band wayyyy too loud!!!!

by Bermychick on 7/11/12 Amway Center - Orlando

Overall good concert, it was good to hear and see some ol' school. DougE fresh was off the hook and the comedian, I could have been well entertained by those 2 alone. Also, the band drowned out the singers so they practically had to shout for you to hear them (too bad). All the performers done a good job. Keith Sweat was as arrogant as he always has been and seemed to have an attitude towards the end towards one of his fans (not nice at all). It kinda ended suddenly which could have been done a lot better too, kinda left everyone hanging. It was my first live concert and I would go again.
