About

FRANCIS AND THE LIGHTS IN CONCERT:

Francis and the Lights is the brainchild of enigmatic performer Francis Farewell Starlite, a skilled songwriter with a voice like Peter Gabriel and a knack for elegant, understated pop gems. Starlite really shines at his live shows, combining stunning visuals and idiosyncratic dancing to create an all-out feast for the senses that owes as much to performance art as it does to legendary performers like James Brown and Prince. Fans looking for a truly unique concert experience have found their answer in Francis and the Lights.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Francis Farewell Starlite began performing as Francis and the Lights in 2007, shortly after he dropped out of Wesleyan University. His debut EP Striking and its 2008 follow-up A Modern Promise were popular with fans and critics alike, earning him a cult following and landing him on the road with none other than hip-hop superstar Drake, who hand-picked him for the Home Away From Home Tour.  He made his full-length debut in 2010 with It'll Be Better, a stellar collection of hushed, intricately arranged pop music. In addition to opening for MGMT, Ke$ha, and La Roux, in 2011 Starlite presented a performance art piece called The White Room at the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center. In 2013 he released his third EP Like A Dream to another round of critical acclaim, building anticipation among fans for a sophomore LP and accompanying tour.

    Underwhelming and late

by Sedona808 on 6/25/18The Fillmore - San Francisco

Show started an hour after the printed "show start" time (after doors open, which was 2 hours prior at this point). Francis showed up super drunk and lip-synced the entire performance. Certain parts he sang over the audio track, out of key and out of breath. We left after 20 minutes of his performance.

    Francis Starlite is an inspiration

by samouri on 6/18/18Apollo Theater - New York

Seeing Francis live was hands down the best experience I've ever had in my life. Do whatever it takes to see him live, everything he does is just for us.

Francis and the Lights was unforgettable

by Anonymous on 6/11/18Apollo Theater - New York

Such a unique, upbeat and uplifting show. He is so talented in so many ways it was mind blowing. My sisters and I had the best night and all left even bigger fans, wishing he was playing a second night in NYC - we would have gone again!

    francis is amazing!

by shinder on 6/11/18Apollo Theater - New York

the apollo is iconic, but of course also a bit outdated. small venue and even smaller bar to serve the guests. get there early to make sure you aren’t in line when the show starts.

Awesome show from Francis and the Lights - he did 15 songs (13 plus two encore songs), with a nice representation of his entire catalog. Great energy, great venue, great show.

    Francis, pretty cool.

by Francita on 1/20/14Baby's All Right - Brooklyn

Francis is a great performer. I love his voice and dance moves. What I don't love is waiting over 2 hours for a 30 minute performance. Of course, I expect a 9 o'clock show to start at 10, but after 11 is just a little crazy. We showed up a little late, still had time to leave the venue for a quick dinner, came back to the venue and still had to wait.
