FLYING LOTUS IN CONCERT:

Genre-spanning producer and rapper Flying Lotus has quickly become one of the most influential and innovative producers in experimental hip hop. His spacious, trippy productions take on new dimensions at his mesmerizing live shows, where an extensive setup of software and hardware instruments provides him with an arsenal of mind-expanding sounds to manipulate. On tour in 2014 in support of his fifth album You're Dead!, Flying Lotus will treat ticket buyers to new cuts from the release alongside classic fan favorites like "Massage Situation" and "Tea Leaf Dancers".

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Los Angeles-born Flying Lotus, a.k.a. Steven Ellison, hails from a long line of musicians -- his great aunt and uncle were jazz legends Alice and John Coltrane. He made his debut in 2006 with the album 1983, impressing critics with his unique IDM-meets-hip hop sound and attracting the attention of label execs at Warp Records, who signed him the following year. His popularity continued to grow with his 2008 sophomore album Los Angeles, and in 2010 he cracked the Top 20 of the independent charts with his third album Cosmogramma. By the time he began work on his fourth album Until the Quiet Comes, his reputation as a producer had attracted big-name collaborators like Thom Yorke and Erykah Badatu. Th album was a huge critical and commercial success, topping year-end lists and earning him crossover success with a Top 40 spot on the Billboard 200. Flying Lotus thrilled fans in summer of 2014 with the announcement of his fifth album You're Dead, which he'll accompany with a highly anticipated US tour.

    Good Venue Great Concert

by Lauren on 9/22/19House of Blues San Diego presented by Cricket Wireless - San Diego

I like the intimacy of the House of Blues and the vibes that it gives off. Also an upstairs option which is nice for those who don’t want to be right next to a lot of people. Made me throw away my ibuprofen and GasEx which was a big bummer because i struggle with bodily pains. Also wouldn’t let me return back into the venue even though i walked out literally 1 minute before which sucked because i wanted to visit the photo booth which i didn’t remember was there until i had walked out. But overall good experience.

    AMAZING SHOW

by Emmie on 9/21/19South Side Ballroom - Dallas

The effects were great, the music was even better, and the staff was really personable. I would 100% see this show 500 more times at the same venue.

FLYLO brings the fire to Dallas

by Borgbilly on 9/19/19South Side Ballroom - Dallas

Outstanding show from the support acts to the headliner. As always, a diverse crowd. Everyone was well behaved, the venue was good for the size of the show. Mix/sound system were well done. The absolute standout was the 3D visuals. They were absolutely stunning. Flying Lotus seemed like he was having a great time and was sharing the love with his audience.

An amazing experience of visuals and sound

by Ian on 9/1/19Franklin Music Hall - Philadelphia

The pre show had a pretty good build up with Pbody, Salami Joe Rose Louis, and Brandon Coleman. When Flying Lotus appeared, he aimed to please with a mix of 3D visuals and a journey of his past to present music. Ultimately, the whole experience was really fantastic and satisfying. I would absolutely go to another show again!

    Little Dragon was awesome!

    by Magic721 on 6/20/18Greek Theatre-U.C. Berkeley - Berkeley

Honestly, I was there primarily for Little Dragon, but I do like Flying Lotus as well. Unfortunately, his set experienced technical difficulties, so we didn’t get the full effect. As a result, we left a little early. I’m sure had everything been working for him, it would have been better. I also didn’t like when he found out there was an issue he refused to play, pretty much threw a tantrum, and walked off the stage leaving concertgoers confused. A bit unprofessional.
