Flight To Mars (Feat. Mike McCready of Pearl Jam)

by Nesta23 on 4/13/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

This was a great show for a great cause. This show is A benefit for Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of America. McCready himself has battled with Crohn’s and colitis, and to quote from him, “CCFA has played a huge part in helping me get the support and information that I need. I’m grateful that my band mates and friends can support and join me for a night of music and fun that will help us find a cure for these debilitating diseases.” The show was great and they rocked it out. if you have a chance to see them, Do it. You will not regret it.

    Flight To Mars

by MANGOT2 on 4/11/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Doors were supposed to open @ 8:00, stood in line from 7:50 til they finally opened @ almost 9:00. FTM did not play til after 11:00, that's a very long time to stay sober enough to enjoy the show.

The first band, "Buckets of Rain" really had a great sound. Their original material was fresh and innovative. The second band had the mix wrong for the first few songs. Too much bottom end and words were lost due to the overpowering bass line. Flight to Mars was tight and rockin'. They put on a great set. It's just too bad that the site lines in the Showbox are hindered because of the large columns. The acoustics are not the best for this type of music. All in all I really had a good time.

Flight to Mars @ the Showbox.

by gonzo66 on 4/10/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

If you are a fan of UFO you will love Flight to Mars. The Showbox is one of Seattle's Best Venues and seeing FTM there was an absolute blast! This is 3rd time I've seen them there with more friends going each time. I will be there the next time too. I highly recommend this band and venue.

    Ten Club Snobs

by AlkiLisa on 4/10/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

The 2 opening bands were average to lame. I've seen better bands at the 88 Keys jam nights. A little disappointing - I wonder if you have to be friends with Mike to get a gig opening for him? Anyway, Flight to Mars was a lot of fun to watch. They nailed the UFO tunes, and you could tell that McCready and the boys were having a great time. The downside to this show was the audience. Ten Club Snobs and the Supreme Attendees of the overpriced V.I.P. pre-concert party - talk about a crowd with a sense of entitlement. (What is your 10 Club member #? Oooh, I'm in the 2000's!) Not exactly what I'm used to at a rock show. I got called out by a big guy for blocking his girlfriend's view - and I'm 5'5". Dude, the crowds shift at GA Floor shows, you don't get an assigned standing spot. I go to shows around the city a couple of times each month, and there was some wierd social protocal going on here. So, the headliner performance was great, but I'll avoid these Ten Club jerks in the future. Have at it...

    Incredible Show!

by MaxPower1 on 4/10/11Showbox at the Market - Seattle

Mik McCready is absolutely amazing with his guitar. Normally opening bands at events like this come up short in the way of performance and I leave a bit disapointed in the openers but Buckets of Rain and Lazy Susan really impressed me. Lazy Susan had great stage presence and were very high energy which kept the crowd interested. Well done openers...well done. Flight to Mars was amazing and played a great set. It also helped that I caught one of Mike's guitar picks that he threw out during the show. Mike never ceases to amaze me with his guitar playing and energy on stage.

Flight to Mars was great. Mike McCready rocked! My daughter has ulcerative colitis and that was the main reason I bought the tickets in the first place - the CCFA was going to benefit from the show. There was a group of six of us going. I want to support the CCFA in any way I can and ended up having a great evening. Lots of fun, good music!
