FIF is one of the best ska bands ever

by TheMEVE on 4/30/14Westcott Theater - Syracuse

The venue was small, the stage crowded and the opening act was meh... But, when Five Iron Frenzy came on it was all energy. They are fun, entertaining and fantastic musicians. The songs were tight even with a stunt double for the missing Micah (where the heck is Micah?). If you like ska or just great music, you will appreciate FIF.

    Was I the only one...

by ItsBeenALongTime on 4/17/13Gramercy Theatre - New York

I thought the show was great--FIF sounded great, the music was tight, the energy was perfect...(and hey, who this kid calling us old in these reviews? I feel almost 30 years young, thankyouverymuch!), and yes, wedding bands glimmered under the lights (okay, we're old), and new songs were, ...eh, not as exciting (musically, they were pretty great, but it's been YEARS for us fans, waiting...longing...to hear those 'old' songs played again...and I'm talking not-the-end-is-here, more along the lines of Our Newest Album...or Upbeats)... but their set was SO SHORT. Were my friends and I the only ones disappointed?

    Great show!

by DJPunky21 on 4/16/13Gramercy Theatre - New York

Five Iron Frenzy did not disappoint in one of their reunion shows. I enjoyed the mix of old and new songs that the band played although I would have preferred a better selection of their older songs that I like a little better. The venue sold very well and the crowd was into the show throughout the night. A great time was had by all!

    Five Iron rocks the house!!

by Rachelgurl on 4/13/13Gramercy Theatre - New York

It was awesome to see Five Iron Frenzy back together. Same incredible energy, love hearing the songs I grew up to, as well as their new stuff. The new stuff keeps pushing the envelope and I'm excited to hear more. Awesome show!!!

Five Iron Frenzy and House of Heroes...the best

by Thenicknamedealisdumb on 3/30/13Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

This was, hands down, the best show I've been to in a long time. House of Heroes did a fantastic job of opening for Five Iron Frenzy and FIF themselves exceeded my every expectation. It was even better than their "last" show they did in Georgia eight years ago. I love Center Stage, too, and if FIF comes back I will do my best to go.

    old band, old fans

by shepherd23 on 3/28/13Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

First off, House of Heroes opened the show, and frankly it was one of the main reasons I went. They were amazing. The music was extremely tight and polished. I wish they had performed a full show. They are an extremely underrated, underexposed, under-appreciated band. Much better musicians than the headliner in my opinion. And very humble. As for Five Iron Frenzy, it was a trip to look around and see a predominantly old, balding, heavier crowd in their old 5Iron t-shirts. At this age, it is much harder to look cool and hip like back in the day, and this is so true to say even of the band itself. Much of a reunion, the show kept screaming "we're all fading away, together." 5Iron put on their best. Reece masked his lessening agility behind his kooky dancing, even to the point where he almost hurt himself. The horns were still tight. Guitars were still on cue. Drummer was hilarious. It was a decent show. Nostalgic. And then at the end of the show they sang Every New Day. I have not felt the hair stand up all over my body in a long time, but when they sang this song there was such an energy in the room that it felt as if our merciful Creator was stooping down and reaching in. That song WAS their whole show in my opinion. And then they pulled their trademark ending, and left you wanting for an encore that will never come.

    did that really happen?

by jmelberg on 3/25/13Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I kept hearing this from folks in the crowd, artists on stage and even my own self a time or two. "It's been a dream to go to a Five Iron Frenzy Concert". I'm still debating whether it was a dream or if we were actually there seeing FIF live in the flesh. I really liked the venue...sound quality was a little poor, but I dont think that really mattered to 95% of the people there. The venue had a great mix of seating and floor space. House of Heros was a great opener!

    Five Iron Frenzy is great!

by Meghanm311 on 3/25/13Center Stage Theatre - Atlanta

I didn't get to see Five Iron Frenzy before they broke up 10 years ago, so being able to see them in Atlanta and Orlando was fantastic. The set was great (disappointed didn't get to hear certain songs, but I was happy with what they played). Reese forgot a few words, but it's whatever; I still loved it. They stuck around to hang out with people. They're really down to earth people and don't hold themselves higher than anyone else. I wish more bands were like this. So much love for FIF. I can't wait to see them again!
