    Firesign Theatre

by Spacechik on 12/12/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I have been a big fan for years. I was happy to have seen this show. I was a little disappointed in the abbreviated NICK DANGER sketch but I suppose they get tired of the same old thing (or the old same thing) after 40 years. I would pay to go again.

by coolzip on 12/12/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

fantastic job stitching together bits and pieces from all different eras. they are having a good time and the improvisational energy has not flagged in 40 plus years. will see them every time they come out!

The Firesign Theatre, fabulous as always!

by anotherBozoOnTheBus on 12/12/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I used to listen to them on the radio.. I always looked forward to their "Rose Parade" simulcast on New Years day. And I own most of their albums. The first half of the show same basic "We're all Bozos on the Bus" show, however, they have updated their material to remain relevant to the times. They touched on much of what is in the news, including OWS, the banking meltdown, the presidential races. All very funny and so very well done. Four guys on stage with mics (sometimes wearing hats), talking, doing sound effects. Their timing is perfect. My guess is one would could see the show several times and pick up new bits every time.

    Firesign Theatre still has it!

by Anonymous on 12/12/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

These guys are unbelievable! They've been together over 40 years and are still brilliant and hilarious. Of course my husband and I had a great time, but so did our 12-year-old son. The next time you have the chance, make sure you don't miss them. Or pick up a CD to enjoy!

A Night of Gut Busting Satire

by MIDICancer on 12/12/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I've been listening to the Firesign Theatre since I was a kid, thanks to my father and fellow conspirator. Well, he nor I had ever had the good fortune to see these hilarious gentlemen perform our favorite comedy live. I purchased the tickets for my dad's birthday, and off we went! They performed our personal favorite bit "We're All Bozos On This Bus". The standby characters and jokes were there but with an amazing modern twist, proving that these old dogs can indeed learn new tricks(or at least update their old tricks to ver 2.0) If you love political satire veiled in absurdist hippy humor then you'll love the show these guys put on. I'd listened to "Bozos" for years, but nothing quite beat seeing the magic happen right in front of me. It was a night I won't soon forget.

My mom had tears rolling down her face

by JessicaStorm on 12/11/11Winningstad Theatre - Portland

I bought the tickets for my mom (who is 58) and my sister. I did not attend this event, so this review comes seconhand. My sister had never heard the Firesign Theatre but my mom of course had. My mom said she laughed so hard that she had tears streaming down her face, and that they both had an amazing time.

Follow the rubber line to your seat

by uhClem on 6/19/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

There were only four jokers in L.A. crazy enough to do that act...and I had to find out who they were.

    Great show

by bogiesasn on 6/16/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

The boys stood in front of microphones holding scripts and performed many old pieces including High Madness, a more recent Nick Danger piece, and the entire text of Anythinge You Want. It was fabulous trip down memory lane, the audience was cool and weirdly well-behaved. I was privileged to see the Firesign boys in Seattle in 2005 when they launched their last tour.

    Firesign Theater Hilariously Intelligent Comedy!

by RegnadKcin on 6/15/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

If you have never had the opportunity to experience the comedy of the Firesign Theater Live... (as it was with my wife) you should rectify the situation fast. This was the second time I got to watch them perform in person and I had just as much fun as the day over forty years ago when my brother gave me his old Firesign Lps. The comedy is smart, topical and as relevent now as it was when they started in the sixties. The show lasted about two hours wuth a brief intermission. Afterwards the troupe had a meet and greet in the lobby of the theater to sign autographs and make memories. Don't look for a show with great sets and impressive special effects...(besides the knocking sound effect that Phil Proctor was having a hell of a time trying to match his actions with) Firesign was is and will be always about the words. Thanks guys for another great evening.

    Firesign Theatre - 3-Thumbs Up

by rriccardo on 6/14/10Winningstad Theatre - Portland

The show was as great as I remember by closing my eyes and listening to that "true radio show" format from which it originated, but fast-forward dozens of years. The fast paced, blatant, and sublime humor was not ignoring anyone, young or old. Many of their ‘radio plays’ were just as appropriate now as they were 40 years ago. I was truly happy to see those old farts not submitting and still going strong. Now off to the store to grab an album or two.
