About

Southern California punks Face to Face formed in 1991, originally comprised of singer/guitarist Trever Keith, drummer Rob Kurth, and bassist Matt Riddle. Debuting early the following year on the Dr. Strange label with Don't Turn Away, the trio was quickly snapped up by Fat Wreck Chords, which reissued the LP soon after. Adding second guitarist Chad Yaro, Face to Face toured relentlessly in the months to follow, recording a series of singles and compilation tracks collected in 1994 as Over It. When the song "Disconnected" became a local hit thanks to steady airplay on Los Angeles station KROQ, the group's profile grew considerably, and 1995's Big Choice sold in excess of 100,000 copies. In the wake of Riddle's exit, bassist Scott Shiflett signed on for Face to Face's major-label debut, a self-titled release issued on A&M in 1996. The adventurous Ignorance Is Bliss followed in mid-1999 on the Beyond label, featuring new drummer Pete Parada.

The following year saw Face to Face returning to their core sound with Reactionary, released on the band's own label, Lady Luck Records, through BMG-distributed Beyond. Through a promotion with MP3.com, Face to Face allowed fans to shape the set list for Reactionary by downloading snippets of the songs and voting which ones should make it onto the album. Nearly two million votes were received during a six-week period. Reactionary was released on June 20, 2000. The cover album Standards & Practices, which featured the band's own rendition of songs by the Smiths, the Pogues, Fugazi, the Jam, and others, was issued on Vagrant in early 2001. That year also saw Keith and Shiflett join Viva Death, which released its eponymous debut in September 2002. Meanwhile, Face to Face had joined the Dropkick Murphys for a split EP, and How to Ruin Everything, the band's sixth studio album, had appeared in March 2002.

In fall 2003, Face to Face disbanded after 13 years and six albums. Two years later, the retrospective Shoot the Moon: The Essential Collection was released on Keith's Antagonist Records. ~Jason Ankeny, AllMusic

Great show, great venue, annoying tickets!

by turbotron on 12/21/21Summit - Denver

The show itself is perfect, the staff was great, I appreciated the COVID vaccination check at the door, and the bands were amazing. The only negative part of the experience was the inability to save a ticket ahead of time. My smartphone isn't very smart and doesn't handle apps well, so it was very stressful ensuring I'd actually be able to get into the show. What's wrong with having a PDF ahead of time I can print out???

    True Believer

by Juice Man on 12/20/21Summit - Denver

Just a plain old good show face to face was just smooth as hell and then the bouncing souls although I felt as if they were kind of out of their place playing for the first time at summit and he was correct in saying that every other time I've ever known them to come to town they played at the bluebird but I wish I would have gone to the second night I think they're just getting adjusted to the summit cuz I think it was our first time ever playing but what a great night just a great band and how I had never heard of the suicide machines is beyond me what a great fun band Hope they'll come back again very soon

It is rare that a show comes along with theee bands that i really want to see. No Bueno opened and started the night off right. Suicide Machines were next and blew me away. Face to Face was next and as always, put on and amazing show. Bouncing Souls closed the night out perfectly. The show blew me away and my ears are still recovering. Early Christnas present to me for sure!!! All my dreams were just A-OK and I'm a true believer.

I had an amazing time. It was my first concert of this kind, and it was incredible. All the bands sounded great and the members interacted very well with the crowd.

    greats bands. incompetent bartender (male)

by z. on 10/23/19Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

The women bartending by merch booth was great. She ran out of water and found me one anyway. The guy inside was unprofessional from the beginning. I ordered an IPA he handed me a fat tire, then was frustrated that I reminded him about the voodoo ranger. He "happen to have an IPA" already poured into a cup and just gave me that (unprofessional). The next time I came to the line I ordered another ranger IPA and 4 waters (which he was telling everyone "there's no water!!"). I gave him a 20$ that covered the tab then put 2 dollars on his bar for the second time that night. Then he called me a dick as I was walking away!? Finally when I saw him spreading money all over his bar counting tips, is when I realized how unprofessional this guy is. Lauderdale is a big town with a lot of willing professionals. Maybe some bartender interviews would shake things up for you guys. Thanks for your time. Great show!!

    Love the venue

by Carrie on 10/22/19Culture Room - Ft Lauderdale

I love the venue because you could see the band really well. I only stayed for the opening band H2O. They were amazing and I’m so glad they finally came back to South Florida.

    Lagwagon / Face to Face

by Rickey on 10/19/19The Underground - Charlotte

Incredible night. I’ve been following both bands for over 20 years and both are still completely on top of their game. Ended up driving 7 hours round trip for it and would gladly drive twice as far to see these 2 together again. Oh venue was great, didn’t test out bar tho, merch was very reasonably priced. 10/10 easily.
