Evita was most enjoyable!
by GeorgiePorgy on 3/10/13Marquis Theatre - New YorkEnjoyed the show. Although, I must be honest and say that Evita's voice was a bit shrill! But Ricki's voice and the other cast members made up for it!

TIM RICE and ANDREW LLOYD WEBBER's Tony Award®-winning musical returns to Broadway at last, starring Grammy® Award winner RICKY MARTIN (Les Misérables) and Olivier Award winner ELENA ROGER (Piaf), who will be the first Argentinian actress to play the role of Evita on Broadway. She reprises her remarkable portrayal that dazzled audiences and critics in London's West End. Also starring is Tony Award winner MICHAEL CERVERIS (Sweeney Todd).
Enjoyed the show. Although, I must be honest and say that Evita's voice was a bit shrill! But Ricki's voice and the other cast members made up for it!
It was excellent!!!! Great show, great actresses, actors and artists, great singers and dancers. Loved it...
I love this musical, one of my favorites and I have to say the cast was the best I have heard. Ricky Martin amazed me with his Che performance, he was by far the best one I have seen playing this roll. Elena Roger also was amazing with her voice, very much an Argentinian lady, this roll needs to be played by an Argentinian. Loved the show!
A great cast, and a great classical musical. A must see for a musical fan.
The show was a disappointment. I don't think Ricky Martin was suited to the role he played, as he is more of a Pop singer and his voice was ot powerful enough to project on stage. The female lead understudy did not have a great voice AT ALL!! Paid too much for it to be just fair.
There is a major difference between "belting" and "screeching". It would have been much more enjoyable with someone else playing Evita.
Amazing, breath taking, I'm really happy with this performance
I know the show has closed now but it was very good.
The show was wonderful & we saw the show on the last day that Ricky Martin performed but the lead role was played by the second. She was magnificent with the voice of an angel! The woman next to me even cried!
Ricky, the songs, the choreography, the feeling... it was all great and everything I hoped for. I made a special trip to NYC to see the very last show of Evita and I am very happy I did.
