About

ETERNAL SUMMERS IN CONCERT:

Eternal Summers lives up to their sunshine-inspired name, marrying surf guitar melodies to sparkling indie rock. Frontwoman Nicole Yun drives the band’s sound with her howling melodies and dreamy lyrics on each three-minute slice of pop perfection. Her chiming guitar chords are the perfect sonic complement, echoing throughout each song and betraying the subtle dark wave influence of bands like Joy Division and The Smiths. Drummer Daniel Cardiff and bassist Jonathan Woods fill out the arrangements, combining punk economy and understated melodicism to give each song a raging, romantic heartbeat. Ticket buyers will swoon to the sun-faded style of singles like “Black Diamond”, “Gold and Stone”, and “Wonder” every time Eternal Summers brings their bright, brilliant sound on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Due to their extensive recording and touring, it can be easy to forget that Eternal Summers has had a relatively short journey from humble beginnings to indie darlings. Guitarist/vocalist Nicole Yun and drummer Daniel Cardiff met in the late ‘00s as part of Roanoke, VA art collective Magic Twig Community. They began creating music together as Eternal Summers in 2009, releasing a self-titled EP within the year and following up with the 2010 full-length album Silver. Unfortunately, Yun’s guitar was stolen on the ensuing tour, leaving the band unable to reproduce the sound of their records during live performances. Longtime friend and bassist Jonathan Woods saved the day, adding a much needed low-end punch to their 2012 album Correct Behavior. Eternal Summers has continued to amass followers in recent years with stellar releases like The Drop Beneath (2014) and Gold and Stone (2015), and their increasingly polished live sound continues to wow audiences at venues across the country.
