Indie folk singer-songwriter Emmy The Great certainly lives up to her moniker in concert, where she delights ticket buyers with her blend of fiery guitar pop and tender ballads. In concert she's covered songs by bands as diverse as Weezer, Pixies, and Meat Puppets, but it's her original material that showcases her true artistry. From the vulnerable tell-all "We Almost Had A Baby" to sultry tunes like "Swimming Pool", she transitions seamlessly between acoustic and electric sounds. Graced with her world-wise, smoky voice and a penchant for witty lyricism that gives her music claws, Emmy is a dynamic performer who keeps fans thoroughly entertained at her live shows.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Singer-songwriter Emmy the Great, aka Emma-Lee Moss, was born in Hong Kong, raised in London, and wound up in Brooklyn. She began making demo tapes in the mid-'00s and spent years playing with indie folk bands Noah and the Whale and Lightspeed Champion (alongside Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine). In 2006 she adopted the moniker Emmy the Great and released the single "Secret Circus". Her debut album, 2009's First Love, received critical acclaim and landed on The New York Times' year-end list. In 2011 she released her sophomore album Virtue, as well as a festive pop Christmas album with Irish musician Tim Wheeler. After two years spent touring and writing the soundtrack for the 2013 film Austenland, she signed a deal with record label Bella Union and released the single "Swimming Pool" featuring Wild Beasts' Tom Fleming. In early 2015 she released an EP titled S with production by Ludwig Goransson (Haim, Childish Gambino) and Dave McCracken (Beyonce, Oh Land) on which she introduced electronic elements to her formerly acoustic-driven sound.
