    Daddy Ellis was phenonmenal!

by erooms on 12/12/12Howard Theatre - Washington

What a treat it was to see Ellis Marsalis perform! He is a senior statesman. I will return to The Howard Theater whenever he comes back. He performed straight for 90 minutes and I could have listened to another 90 minutes. For all the jazz affecionados it was witnessing history.

    Mr. Ellis Marsalis was remarkable!!!

by erooms on 12/11/12Howard Theatre - Washington

If you have not seen this concert, please take the time to do so. Mr. Marsalis is a gem of a pianist and his band is magnificent! I am amazed that someone at his age could still perform with such precision. The atmosphere at the Howard Theatre is refreshing too.

    Devin in good mood

by Rabiyya on 4/19/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

Devin Phillips played smooth and cool. I like how he let each member of the quartet take turns interpreting the music. This group is the best you've played with, Devin.

    Ellis and Jason Marsalis

by heheheh on 4/18/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

How can you go wrong with the father of the most famous jazz family in America and his son Jason? From the first note Ellis played I was transformed. What a pleasure to hear Jason on vibes. He has the Marsalis touch; great phrasing, melodic lines, perfect rhythmic feel. Don't miss these guys if you get a chance to hear them.

    Nice!!!

    by BBD123 on 4/18/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

These guys were 100% bad-asses! They were the real deal. Great music. Comfortable seating. Good beer. The only thing I wish is that the balcony had been open. I'd rather have sat up there. Otherwise - awesome!

Ellis and Jason were at their greatest.

by Anonymous on 4/18/11Aladdin Theater - Portland

Because of our 20 years in New Orleans this was not our first Marsalis concert - very far from it. However, it was the first time to hear Jason on vibes. He was amazing, just like his drumming. Dad was also fantastic as always. The other two younger players were exceptional and well rehearsed.

    Ellis Marsalis is a Master!

by CLG1224 on 2/15/11Folly Theater - Kansas City

Ellis Marsalis and his band were absolutely amazing. He is a living legend and anyone who has a chance to see him needs to get their tickets. His band members were superb and Jason (his son) was off the charts. His sax player, Doug, embodies jazz and he is as good as they come. Dougs ability to perform long rifs defies normal pulmonary function. I will never forget this concert.

The show was OUTSTANDING! The waitstaff could have been more attentive, but the show more than made up for that.

We thoroughly enjoyed the entire Marsallis event. The acustics are great and the volumn is not turned up to 'unbearable.' Watching Jason M. was an added treat.
