First time at the venue and hearing the performance. It was great! Eli paperboy Reed is on my playlist now.
Eli Paperboy Reed and the band gave their all at this show! So happy to been able to experience the show!
Jimmys is a great venue, our first visit was awesome.
What a fabulous voice and what energy this wonderful musician has! It was kismet when I thought of Eli on Tuesday night, looked on his site and found out he was playing in Allston the next night. I grabbed a friend and we drove in all the way from upcountry Ipswich to the big city for the show. We are so glad that we were there for this amazing performance. i just preordered his upcoming CD and some of his hot sauce.
Another stellar, lively performance by Eli "Paperboy" Reed with a three-piece backup, they tore through a energetic set of "hits" and newer tunes. I really liked the venue as well. Not too crowded and very intimate. As an old man, however, I wished he had come on sooner than 10:15PM. While I really enjoyed the first opener (Jeremy and the Harlequins), finding out that we had to sit through a second act (Ruby Rose Fox, whose music seemed a bit incongruous with the rest of the night, though the fact that she and Eli went to school together might have been a factor) was a little too much. By the end of the night, I was just wishing they'd finish so I could go home and get some sleep.
Eli Paperboy Reed put on a great show last Monday at the House of Blues. Great vocals as you would expect from him, but also terrific guitar and backup band. For whatever reason, perhaps because he is not well known here, there were no more than 50 people in the audience. That did not deter Paperboy from putting on a high energy show from start through encore. The same can be said for Jeremy and the Harlequins, the opening band. Hard driving rock and roll at its best. Don't miss these guys next time.
We watched from the balcony and the music was great, but we were blinded by the lighting. We actually left early because we couldn't take it anymore and there is no point being at a concert when you spend the whole time with your back to the act.
Ruby Rose Fox Band performed a great opening set- a little surfer, a little soul- really good stuff. And Ruby Rose is a very skilled vocalist. Not many women out there are able to command the lower register like her- a real gem and this band is a must-see for Boston music lovers. Eli's band took the stage and completely electrified the place with energy and soul power. It was an incredible set. I can't wait to buy the new album, just so I can relive the concert while I'm in the car. He also played the title track from his last album, "Come And Get It" to which the whole room sang along, smiling and dancing. So glad I bought tickets to this show.
the Sinclair is a great venue, small with good audio system. The performance was fun and very energetic. Great band!
