    New Edmar Castañeda fan

by Pocal on 4/20/18Kupferberg Center for the Arts - Queens

Edmar Castañeda hosted a wonderful concert with a drummer/percussionist, trombonist, guest harmonica player and singer (who he happened to be married to). Special mention goes to the percussionist David Silliman, who was so good I had to google him when I got home, lol. The group played original pieces that were lively or moving or just plain fun. What I liked as much as Edmar's playing and energy was his spirit, (which you can feel as he plays), when he humbly addresses his audience. He is a warm, enthusiastic and extremely skilled musician. His harp is electronic (I think) so it does not have the traditional acoustic harp sound I was expecting, being a novice of his music. Highlight was his kids playing at the end briefly, son on the maracas and daughter on that beautiful harp! Highly recommended, if he comes to your area, GO!

This concert was one that will remain memorable. The ensemble of musicians that were gathered at this concert was off the charts talented. The interaction with the audience was wonderful and memorable. His Harp playing and his love for music is evident. His love for his family is also right up front. He brought out his wife to sign a couple of very powerful songs as well as his beautiful children at the end of the event. I would see him again. The musician's were the best I ever heard. Harmonica, trombone, drummer and Harp. What a great afternoon we had.

    Life changing

by LoudGuitr on 11/8/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

I have been a professional musician for 40 years, touring and recording with jazz and rock acts that are well known. This show was one of the highlights of my musical life. The level of musicianship and dynamic performance was something I'll never forget. Hiromi and Edmar are two of the most accomplished players in the world, and the music ranged from placid and soothing to explosive. It was emotional, funny at times, and I got to witness something I've never even heard of.... Hiromi broke a piano string! This was a wonderful day.

Hiromi & Casteneda: Wanted it to last forever!

by DutchDudette on 11/8/17New Jersey Performing Arts Center - Newark

I've been to many concerts and this was one of the best ever. Virtuosic playing from each, combined with deep emotion. But the connection between them made the whole way more than the sum. Just an astounding performance.
