About

Eddie Izzard is a British comedian and actor born in Aden, Yemen. The genderfluid performer got her start in sketch comedy and street performance before launching her stand-up comedy career. Known for her rambling, stream-of-consciousness monologue style and self-referencing pantomime, Izzard won two Primetime Emmys for her 2000 special Dress to Kill. The comedian’s film and TV credits include Ocean’s Twelve (2004), Ocean’s Thirteen (2007), The Riches (2007), Valkyrie (2008), Cars 2 (2011), and The LEGO Batman Movie (2017). Izzard also earned a Tony nomination for the Broadway revival of A Day in the Death of Joe Egg. In 2024, she premiered her one-person adaptation of Hamlet, which will transfer to Chicago and London following its triple-extended run in New York City.

    Eddie is Amazing

by Scott on 4/13/24Orpheum Theatre - New York

We thought we liked Tennant's Hamlet and Branagh's Hamlet, but Eddie's performance blows them both away. We thoroughly loved her show, and her charisma obviously shines through before, during, and after the show. So glad we could see her!

Hamlet by William Shakespeare, probably you have seen lots of different, One man/women (human) plays all the characters, even fights , unbelievable. It's a must see.

If you get the chance go and see Eddie Izzard in her version of Hamlet. Remarkable, entertaining, funny and very, very clever. A simple yet effective staging allows Eddie to shine. Do not miss this!

I am a huge Izzard fan…I saw his stand up at The Beacon, “David Copperfield,” so this was a must see. I can only reiterate: MASTERFUL. A+

    Eddie Izzard in Hamlet

by Charlie W on 4/10/24Orpheum Theatre - New York

Provocative and persuasive adaptation of Hamlet. Love Izzard’s skill and energy. Is Hamlet mad? Is he merely feigning? Izzard got me engaged.

    Disappointed

by MAR on 4/10/24Orpheum Theatre - New York

Even though Eddie was brilliant in this Shakespeare play I did not like it because I was expecting a comic version of the play so that I could laugh!

    Excellent performance

by Lynda on 4/10/24Orpheum Theatre - New York

I was super excited to see how Izzard would pull off playing all parts of Hamlet. He absolutely exceeded my expectations. His talent, professionalism and humor made this truly enjoyable. He hit all the important parts of the play, made it relatable and was both serious and humorous when appropriate. I was in awe with the physical as well as mental skills. BRAVO

    Amazing experience

by SJ on 4/8/24Orpheum Theatre - New York

I was not sure what to expect going into this show but it was fantastic. I don't think I've ever seen a single person play both sides of a swordfight before. If you love seeing Shakespeare performed and know the story of Hamlet, you will likely enjoy this performance. I do hope it goes on tour!
