About

Raised on the Bakersfield honky tonk of Buck Owens and traditional country like Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Dwight Yoakam has created more than a dozen studio albums of his own self-described hillbilly music over nearly four decades. On his 2012 collection, “3 Pears,” the Kentucky-born performer reached out to Kid Rock and Ashley Monroe of Pistol Annies for co-writing help on a couple songs, while Beck co-produced the successful set.

Ticket buyers know a slew of Yoakam singles when they head to his concerts — from the chart-topping “Guitars Cadillacs” from the similarly-titled 1986 debut and “I Sang Dixie” off of 1988’s “Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room” to 1993’s “A Thousand Miles from Nowhere.” And when he’s not on the tour bus canvassing the nation, the singer/songwriter may be on a movie set. His acting credits include critically acclaimed roles as an abusive boyfriend in “Sling Blade” and a psychopath killer in “Panic Room.”

    Good concert,but...

by kjnaz on 4/24/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

Good medium size venue. Comfortable. Water overpriced. Same price as a beer, $8. Opening act went on way too long. I would have given Dwight Yoakam 5 stars, but... He and his band were very energetic and they played most of his hits nonstop but the volume was way too loud for the venue.

While his voice has weakened over time, his performing of all of my favorites made the night awesome! Dwight’s still got it!

    Sound sucked

by Lyle Rufus on 4/24/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

Dwight is a phenomenal performer, but the overall sound for the show was horrible and disappointing... When he introduced the band, you couldn't even understand him. Just one example. I don't know if that is on Dwight or the venue.

    Dwight sounded great.

This venue is small and perfect. Got a room so we didn't have to drive anywhere after. Also, ate at one of the restaurants--very tasty.

    Dwight was excellent

by JB on 4/24/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

Did not know there would be an opening act as there was none when we saw Martina McBride at same place. Yokum came on after 9 PM & had a great show but we had a number of 6'4"& taller guys in front of us & if not for the TV's might have not seen much of him as no matter if the crowd was standing or sitting made it difficult on a 5'5"wife & even 5'10"me. Good show room but I would be wiser as where I would choose seats in the future.

    What a tight show

by GH on 4/24/24Gila River Resorts & Casinos - Wild Horse Pass - Chandler

I've seen Dwight at least 10 times. His band has the same gang, except for the bass player. They are a tight, very precise act. Dwight's voice is as strong as ever, and Eugene on lead guitar has it all down very well. The new bass player also does all back-up vocals and fits right into the strong, upbeat honky tonk sound that Dwight is a master of. This is a must see show.
