About

DUM DUM GIRLS IN CONCERT:

Indie pop darlings Dum Dum Girls possess the kind of effortless cool usually associated with New York's Downtown scene, but the LA-bred foursome's dreamy sound owes as much to shoegaze as it does to classic NYC punk bands like the Ramones. Taking the stage in their signature black mini-dresses and fishnet stockings, the girls deliver attitude-heavy songs like "Bhang Bhang, I'm a Burnout" and "Wrong Feels Right" with a bewitching blend of passion and insouciance, eyeing fans from behind dark sunglasses as they casually converse between songs. Whether they're vibing out to originals or treating fans to their buzzworthy cover of the Smiths' "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out", Dum Dum Girls always dazzle on their unforgettable tours.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dum Dum Girls began in Los Angeles in 2008 as the bedroom recording project of the band's lead singer and songwriter Dee Dee Penny. Her early releases caught the eye of iconic indie imprint Sub Pop, and in 2010 the label released Dum Dum Girls' debut full-length I Will Be. After assembling a band around the project, Penny and her new mates hit the road for extensive touring that included a stint opening for the band Girls. Two critically acclaimed EPs and a sophomore album followed shortly after, earning the band Best New Music nods from Pitchfork and several high-profile festival appearances. In 2014 Dum Dum Girls released their highly anticipated third album Too True, hitting the road for another series of electrifying shows in support of the record.

This was a good show. I had never seen Dum Dum Girls before or heard their music, but went to the show with a few friends and enjoyed it. They are all talented musicians and play with a lot of energy. I would recommend checking out one of their shows.

I was pretty psyched to see the Dum Dum Girls and was a bit let down after this show. They sounded great, but their set felt short and low energy.

DUM DUM GIRLS rocked in a sold-out show

by ProudEuropean on 3/31/14Brighton Music Hall - Boston

I was not too impressed by the warm-up gig by Blouse, but once the Dum Dum Girls entered the stage the house was on fire. The music rocked and the stage presence of especially Dee Dee was undeniable. A short, sharp show, extremely well presented. Not a single minute of boredom, even though my favorite songs were not played. Highly recommended!!

Dum Dum Girls were absolutely amazing!

by longtimedumdumfan on 3/29/14Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

I have been a fan of the Dum Dum Girls since their first EP. Granted I was really anticipating it since this was the first time I was able to see them live, the concert was just terrific. The level of detail of the whole production really surprised me. From the lighting and visual projections to the synth chords they played to transition between songs, overall I would say this was not just an indie band playing their music, but a really elaborate performance indeed.

    Dreamy?

by nycrockchick on 3/28/14Bowery Ballroom - New York

The Dum Dum Girls' sound is dreamy - so dreamy it was hard for the crowd to really get enthusiastic at any point. Unfortunately, a very unexciting, monotonous evening. And they didn't even play the one good song they have (bang bang i'm a burnout). Disappointed.

Punks on Mars stole the show!

by Nelsforatu on 2/9/12Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn

Great Show! Worth the trip from the Island. Punks On Mars opened up the show with a stellar performance. They had grove, poise, angst and brought it with tight hooks, grooving bass lines, snappin drums and flowing key arpeggios. Widowspeak was next. When they played their first jam I thought I was in a bar once upon a time in Mexico drinking tap corona. The Dum Dum girls took the house down and looked beautiful as they always do but (sorry ladies) I am in love with Sandra Vu.

The girls were great - the sound was rough in the beginning - why can't the mix be right to begin with? vocals were muddy and DeeDee's mic was waaay too low but the house got it together about 4 songs into the act.. DeeDee's voice cracked a couple times but, overall, it was a good show.
