Dracula: A Rock Opera = quite an experience

by FangsfortheMemories on 11/2/10Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester Hills

The play was an interesting time. I came into the theater with very little expectations as to the quality of the show. In truth, from the moment the play began, I was blown away! The actors' musical ability astounded me, and while their acting sometimes left something to be desired, overall, they impressed me greatly. There were a few moments of sheer camp, and (although he was a great singer) I do not understand the casting choice of the young man who played Dracula. The stage set up was also interesting and (in my opinion) innovative. It was set up in a sort of "theater in the round" way, where part of the stage rotated on a track, bringing in new props and scenery when the scene changed. Overall, I would recommend this play, as long as patrons don't try to take it too seriously.

    Dracula: A Musical

by Houdini13 on 10/26/10Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester Hills

Acting was good, the stage set up was full of atmosphere, the music fit the play and the singing was well done. Only negative comment is that Dracula should have worn black pants, not brown. The brown took away from his image.

    Decent

by LadyofSpain on 10/26/10Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester Hills

The voices were good but got drowned out by the music. The storyline ws excellent, the actors good (Dracula) to excellent (Lucy). If I were giving it a grade, it would probably get a C+ to B-.

I Want My 2 Hours Back

Wow, I cannot possibly express in mere mortal words how awful this musical was. I music and lyrics were utterly ridiculous.

    Dracula-A Musical was enjoyable

by Playluvr on 10/18/10Meadow Brook Theatre - Rochester Hills

My sister and I went to see Dracula-A Musical. It was out of the ordinary and we did enjoy it very much. However, there were a few things we found off-putting. We both thought they should have left out the "flying". It was awkward and seemed like they were trying too hard. The Dracula character was not dark enough. His blond hair and light-colored clothing didn't set the proper tone; he was not sinister enough. He did improve in the second half with the change to darker clothing and it seemed as if they darkened his hair for the that half.

    Dracula

Nice show, some good singers and some miserable ones. Overall, the quality of the performers does not match the requested price.
