    Fantastic Musicians

    by sixstringmusic on 7/19/23

5 stars for this band (3 stars for the audio tech). This band is everything you would expect from a Boston Band Experience. Great rock and roll and fantastic stage show with the twin guitars. Love that the band is "old school"and uses stage monitors and not in ears. Saw the show at the OC Fair in Costa Mesa and the sound was very muddy in the front middle of the floor (my seats). Low freqs were overpowering the mids and some highs. Lead vocals were sometime unrecognizable which is NOT the bands issue. Sound tech needs more feedback from the floor apparently (no props for the sound people). I have seen this band before and with a better balanced audio output. Otherwise, great show and awesome music!!. A must for any Boston fan and rock and roll music lover.

A great night at the Fair but horrible audio

    by Boston Fan on 7/19/23

I love the OC Fair and we had a great time there Saturday 7-15-23. I brought several friends to see the Boston Experience at The Hanger. Who would not love that; right? Unfortunately, most everyone in the Hanger. The audio was so bad, people couldn't make out what song the band were was playing and these are people that came to hear Boston songs. There was a guy behind me that came from Montreal who was wearing a Boston T-shirt, a big fan & nice guy. They left the show about halfway through. It was obvious the band was playing okay but the audio was so muddled it was hard to hear individual sounds (like lead guitar, signal vocals, etc.). You could see the fingers moving on guitar frets while the lead guitar played but it was most difficult to differentiate the guitar sound from everything else. It was a big fat mush of noise. The only song that most people recognized from the start was "foreplay"the last song. That song starts off with an entrancing solo on the keyboard at a lower volume; nothing else is playing, just the one playback sound channel of the keyboard. When the band jumped back in, it turned back into mush. Thank God we at least got hear the keyboard solo from "foreplay". The rest of the audio was embarrassingly bad! Unfortunately, quite a few people had left by then. Here's my constructive advice to prevent this from happening again. Get someone that cares about what the audience hears. Don't play the audio for the crowd outside The Hanger (meaning set the volume to the listening level for audience who paid to see the show). Be sure to have a channel for all instruments, drums and singers so you can mix properly. I was sinful to let the lead singer voice melt into the mush. Not to mention the keyboards and lead guitar. Know that your sound array is very powerful and can overwhelm The Hanger's small space. Invest in some delay speakers for the seats further back so you don't have to blow out the ears of the people closer to the stage. Make it so that the people in the front seating area hear the sound at the same level as the back seating area. If you’re not willing to improve the audio expedience at The Hanger, then the Fair should mitigate the issue by hosting an Open Bar for all ticket holders! The Hanger is a great venue at the Fair. Please fix the audio so we can enjoy the show and not have to complain about it!

Wonderful concert - the REAL deal!

    by TERI H. on 7/18/23

I never saw the original Boston in concert, but this group sounds just like the REAL deal! From the musicality of each band member to the harmonies, every song brought back memories of what I used to hear on the radio. I hope to go hear them again next year if the play again at the Orange County Fair.

    Best Tribute Band PERIOD

    by CC Music on 7/18/23

After i went to the show for the second year in a row, i read the reviews people did, out of 43 reviews, 41 said the show was awesome, 2 said they left before the third song (didn't like the weak vocals) those two people missed a GREAT SHOW. Couple people said they saw Actual Boston live 3 times (so did I) and thought this group was BETTER, I AGREE Wholeheartedly. I don't want to rave to much because i don't want these shows to sell out where i have a hard time getting a ticket, but the guys next to me asked me (before the show) if i had seen this group before, i said "buckle your seats fellas your in for a good show, they'll give your mind a ride", those guys ended up buying me a beer ($16 beer) for telling it like it was, they loved the show that much, if you like Boston just a little, YOU'LL LOVE THIS SHOW

    Better Than Boston

    by Carrie B on 7/18/23

I am not a huge Boston fan but my fiancé loves them so we went to the fair to see these guys. When I tell you omg they were wonderful. And they seemed like they were having a blast too. The lead singer hit every high note. Very much recommend them.

    Disappointing

by Scott on 7/22/22OC Fair & Event Center - Costa Mesa

Their wearing wigs did not make me think I was seeing and listening to Boston. The music was ok, but too loud to hear the singing. But maybe that was a good thing since the lead singer was terrible.
