About

For gospel singer and preacher Donnie McClurkin, music and spreading the word of God are one and the same. His concerts mix gospel standards, stirring originals, impromptu medleys, covers of secular hits and joyful discussions about the power of faith. McClurkin’s style is smooth and sophisticated, but he can still get crowds amped up with his genuine passion and unwavering devotion. It makes for a celebratory live experience, which was perfectly captured on his most recent album, the 2008 live recording We Are All One, which led to the single “Wait On The Lord.” McClurkin’s devotion is also evident in his weekly television show, Perfecting Your Faith.

Music and religion were also the two forces that helped save McClurkin from a childhood filled with trials. He joined his church choir at a young age and was soon doing backup vocals for gospel legend Andraé Crouch. In 1989, he was hired as an associate minister at Detroit’s Perfecting Church, working under another gospel star, Marvin Winans of The Winans Family. McClurkin released his self-titled debut album in 1996, and buoyed by popular single “Stand” and a plug from Oprah Winfrey, the album went gold. He sold tickets around the world, and his UK-recorded live album, 2000’s Live In London and More went double platinum. Its followup, Psalms, Hymns & Spiritual Songs, also went double platinum and earned McClurkin his first of three Grammy Awards. He also earned 10 Stellar Awards, two BET Awards, two Soul Train Awards and one NAACP Image Award. When McClurkin is not touring around the country, he shares his devotion preaching as the senior pastor of the Perfecting Faith Church in Freeport, New York and on the television show Perfecting Your Faith.

    Powerful and Anointed Experience

by The Fortified One on 3/6/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

This concert is stripped down and there is very little visual affects. There is no light show, confetti, dancing, and very little visual props. However, there is a powerful move and presence of the Holy Spirit. I would forfeit all of the bells and whistles for a true encounter with the Holy Spirit. This concert will take you to that most intimate space and that makes it a superb concert!

    Blessed!

by Teacher58 on 2/28/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

Pastor Donnie McClurkin is a man of God who thought it not robbery to go on tour so that his fans could enjoy his stellar voice that has the power to evoke the Holy Spirit. I enjoyed the way he engaged the audience. I appreciated the collaboration with Bishop Hezekiah Walker and Fred Hammond. All three of these religious leaders humbled themselves and paid tribute to other legends past and present. They are giants in their own right who took time to acknowledge many of the kings and queens of Gospel music. I wasn’t able to get tickets in my hometown of New York City so I bought tickets for the Charleston, South Carolina show on 2/24/24. The Amtrak ride from New York to Charleston was time well spent. Finally, I had expected Marvin Sapp to perform since his name was on the promotional ads. I enjoy listening to Marvin Sapp and was confused that there was no mention of his absence in Charleston. However, Donnie McClurkin and the Legends Team in Charleston were so dynamic that I didn’t miss Marvin Sapp. Kudos to Donnie McClurkin for lending his voice to raise the roof in Charleston and then he made it back to preach a powerful sermon to his New York congregation at the Faith Perfecting Church. I had the pleasure of watching his sermon on Facebook during my journey back to New York.

I enjoyed every moment of this Legends of Gospel concert, there were comedic moments, praise, and of course SANGIN' (singing) those men of God brought it. by Mrs RGK on 2/28/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

This was one of the best gospel concerts I've seen in a very long time. Each artist was phenomenal-Javetta, Jarrell, Pastor Hez, Fred and especially Pastor Donnie! I was on my feet all night. We need more of that in Charleston SC.

    Just Do It

by Lisa on 2/28/24North Charleston Performing Arts Center - North Charleston

There is always a level of praise & worship when you attend a gospel concert. That level was passed quickly! I loved that there was a level of praise and worship and we were also able to crack jokes. 10/10 would attend another concert with Donnie.
