About

DOM KENNEDY IN CONCERT:

Up-and-coming Los Angeles rapper Dom Kennedy combines minimal beats with clever lyrical wordplay to arrive at a bounce-worthy sound brimming with playfulness and swagger. Taking the stage to deliver laid-back favorites like "My Type of Party", it's clear that Kennedy's live shows are just that -- a chance to cut loose and get funky with friends in a party-worthy atmosphere. From his Dodgers cap to his Cali drawl, Kennedy is an authentic homegrown talent with an appeal that transcends his Golden State roots, making him a must-see act for those seeking the next big thing in hip hop.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dom Kennedy, aka Dominic Hun, was raised in South Central LA on a steady diet of basketball and hip hop. After spending some time studying business management at a local community college, he decided music was where his passion lay and began writing rhymes and producing beats. He released his debut mixtape 25th hour in 2008, quickly becoming a local radio sensation with popular songs like "Watermelon Sundae". Several more successful mixtapes followed, and in 2011 he released his full-length debut album From the Westside with Love, II. The record cracked the Top 20 of both the rap and hip hop/R&B charts, establishing him as a potent new force in West Coast rap and drawing him out for national touring. He followed up in 2013 with his sophomore album Get Home Safely, a critically and commercially successful release that peaked at No. 3 on the rap chart. A charismatic young performer with big things on the horizon, Kennedy continues to flex his considerable lyrical and production skills on his must-see tours.

    Meh.

by SeeMeccaJustice on 11/6/18Sony Hall - New York

The thing I love most about Dom is how he lays back and flows at his own pace, makes you and the beat come to him, so you lean in to his chill. Dom on record is cruise up South La Brea, top down, no clouds. He did the opposite tonight, pacing the stage, yelling like Ian Mackaye circa 1981. A sign of - bad monitors, or a slightly deaf (and/or out of shape) MC. Also, nothing from "LA Is Note for Sale"? We left early.

    Dom and Cassey veggiess

    by Mitchyy92 on 11/24/15Howard Theatre - Washington

Overall it was an alright show. I just wish the sound system would have been better. It was hard to hear what they were saying and thier music in the background. I already knew the song so when I herd a part that I recognized, that's when I would figure out what song they were performing. Other than that the young man that was our waiter was awesome and so was security. My boyfriend accidentally met Cassey so alls well that ends well :)

Dom Kennedy NEVER disappoints HOWEVER the show took FOREVER to start. Also the local acts were a little inexperienced. I know what you're thinking...they're local acts so they're supposed to be inexperienced. No, what I mean is they were performing and they weren't getting the reaction they hoped to get from the crowd and said, "That's what's wrong with this city, you don't support local acts," and walked off stage. That left an awkward silence. Also, between every act there was country music playing. I don't understand...we're at a Dom Kennedy concert, you'd think they would at least have music playing from the same genre...?? Again, I'll reiterate, Dom Kennedy himself did not disappoint so if you're there strictly for him, you'll enjoy this show.

    Way better than expected!

by TaHajj on 11/8/15Masquerade - Atlanta

I was surprised by how many Dom Kennedy fans are in Atlanta. The concert was sold out and the Masquerade was packed. Dom Kennedy, Casey Veggies, Jay 305 and everyone else who came out was amazing. And the special guest that Dom Kennedy and Casey Veggies brought out were amazing also. You won't be disappointed.

The Dom Kennedy and OPM concert was one for the books! Starting off with Warm Brew they got the crowd energized and set the level for the rest of the night. After J 305 and HBK gang put on a a very good performance. They also brought out Cassie Veggies as a special appearance witch made the night even better. Then Dom Kennedy came out and put on one of the best performances ever and made the whole place go up.

This was my first time seeing Dom live in concert, he did not disappoint. The show was one to remember, he sounded great. He did one hell of a set, from his early albums to the new ish! I would pay to see him again, and especially with Nipp Hustle!
