Doc Severinsen Tickets

So wanted to see The Doc! Understand. All of the performers were great. Will attend again.

A tour de force of trumpet virtuosity! Loved the updated “Napoli and variations”! Disappointed that Doc could not participate in the concert; but there was no “hole” at the top. I heard high notes I don’t think I had previously imagined. A real treat to see and hear Lee Loughnane (of Chicago fame). There were some intermittent problems with particular mic volumes and balance. Look forward to the next rendition!

The concert itself and after party was utterly fantastic! There was a little bit of an issue with my ticket. The seat location had to be reassigned because the concert setup required using the orchestra pit seats. I was reassigned to a front row seat but then that conflicted with someone else's seat reassignment. I'm not all that upset but the other man was. I still wound up getting good seats but would have bought a cheaper package if I had known that was going to happen. It turns out Doc wasn't there but that was not the fault of Ticketmaster in any way. He was sick and couldn't make it. Otherwise I had a great time and have no complaints.

Sadly, Doc Severensen was not able to be at the program due to health concerns. None the less, the CancerBlows program I attended at the Cannon Center in Memphis has to be one of the top five concerts I have ever experienced in my 75+ years. The Memphis Symphony section was absolute music mastery, with sections moving me to tears. The Memphis Big Band section was fun, exciting and totally delightful. I never knew I could love trumpets so much. A high point was seeing Ryan’s son playing the finale with all of his Dad’s friends. A truly wonderful and magical musical experience.

The production was top rate from beginning to end. Ryan was a real jewel and was a real loss to the music scene. The total performance of the evening was absolutely fantastic. The trumpets were highlighted throughout the first portion of the program, then, they really got down to business. The big band sound was so great and every one of the performers were such a joy to listen to and watch. Everybody in our party of 11 left with nothing but praises for the entire evening. I was fortunate enough to know Ryan and Nikki personally having attended Lindenwood where Nikki sang in the choir and Ryan often blessed us with his talents. And, he and Gary Beard as a team were unbeatable. GREAT EVENING, GREAT MUSIC

The show was awesome! I don't think it should be advertised with Doc Severinsen, because he wasn't there. 😫 Evidently he can't always make it to the concerts. We were very disappointed, but did enjoy the show!

Attended the "Cancer Blows" concert in Memphis……SPECTACULAR. Unfortunately Doc Severnsen was unable to perform due to health issues…not surprising as he is 96 years old! The other 16+ professionals did not disappoint. The list of musicians included Arturo Sandoval, Wayne Bergeron, Jens Lindemann, trombonist Wycliffe Gordon, and local artists Scott Moore and Gary Beard. The event did not disappoint and raised funds for cancer cure started by Ryan Anthony. The Memphis Symphony opened the evening with classical selections. The second half featured jazz tunes, many of which were arranged by Ryan Anthony. It was special to see Ryan's young son, Ronan, join the featured artists for the finale.

I’m thinking the blockbuster stuff happened purposely at the first part of the evening, giving the average age of the audience; the entire event was outstanding, and for a very worthy cause, but the real ‘fireworks’ came early, with a stunning, brilliantly performed rendition of Respighi’s “Pines of Rome,” and the wonderfully moving “Song of Hope,” written for, and in honor of, Cancer Blows founder and cancer victim, Ryan Anthony—at the soaring conclusive of which, sniffling was heard throughout the concert hall , as handkerchiefs flashed in response. As in any undertaking with as many moving parts, there were lesser moments, to be sure, but overall the evening was spectacular, fulfilling, and, it appeared, financially successful.

Although Doc was unable come to play due to health issues, all the other trumpet players and the Memphis Orchestra were awesome. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth every penny.

You named this event “Doc Severinsen”. Nothing could have been further from the facts. This was a grand fundraiser for “Cancer Blows”, with many of the finest trumpet players in the world. Doc’s health (he’s 94!) prevented him from attending. The main thing was the money raised for the organization in honor of Ryan Anthony, a phenomenal trumpeter who passed away 2 years ago from multiple myeloma.
