Diverse had 3 lead vocalists, 2 men and a woman, and I was really surprised at how very good they were. I wasn't sure what to expect with the event, so it was a really great surprise. They did justice to Michael's songs, the rhythm and groove were perfect. It made for an infectious crowd.
this was my first time at a mj tribute show featuring a live band. This could have been a disaster. What musicians do you know that understand the exacting funk, soul, rock, and pop of the King? Even on the film This Is It MJ had to interrupt the band multiple times to give them excellent lessons in musicality. What singers (male and female) do you know that you even want to hear sing a MJ song? Sure, there are some good maybe great singers out there - but MJ's voice is distinct, precise, and a well honed sound of excellence. The answer to those questions: Diverse Plays Michael Jackson.
