About

DISAPPEARS IN CONCERT:

Chicago-based experimental rock outfit Disappears combines krautrock, shoegaze, and garage rock to arrive at an ambitious and ferociously singular sound. Channeling innovative acts like Sonic Youth and Velvet Underground, the band plows through grungy, lo-fi rock jams featuring hypnotic melodies and frontman Brian Case's snarled vocals. Their recorded work is tight and precisely arranged but the band lets loose in concert, wowing ticket buyers with wild performances of epic jams like "Ultra" and "Power". Disappears continually push both themselves and the proverbial envelope with their sonic explorations, and fans lucky enough to see them live can expect a truly mind-expanding concert experience.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Disappears was formed in Chicago in 2008 by singer Brian Case and drummer Graeme Gibson, who were soon joined by guitarist Jonathan Van Herik and bassist Damon Carruesco. Over the next couple years the band built a strong fanbase touring with acts like Tortoise, Deerhunter, and Times New Viking, also delivering acclaimed performances at Pitchfork Music Festival and South by Southwest. In 2010 they made their recording debut on Chicago-based indie label Kranky Records with the album Lux. The following year they released their sleeker, more psychedelic sophomore album Guider, which they supported with tours in both the US and Europe. Following Gibson's departure from the band, Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley temporarily filled in for their 2012 album Pre Language before being replaced by former Electric Hawk and Anatomy of Habit drummer Noah Leger. The band self-released the EP Kone in 2013 and followed up with their critically acclaimed fourth album Era later that year. Disappears kicked off 2015 with a bang, releasing their fifth album Irreal to another round of stellar reviews before hitting the road for a string of highly anticipated tour dates.
