About

Beloved British singer-songwriter Dido continues to enchant fans around the world with her soothing vocals and inspiring collection of pop hits. Her soft voice and humble stage presence belie her status as one of Britain's most successful female artists of all time, and her unassuming demeanor is the perfect complement to sensitive tracks like "Thank You" and "White Flag". A gifted performer who's shared the stage with artists as wide-ranging as Eminem and Santana, Dido always brings the house down with her thoughtful songs and passionate delivery on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Dido was born Dido Florian de Bounevialle O'Malley Armstrong in London on Christmas day 1971. She was interested in music from an early age, and after stealing a recorder from school at age five her parents enrolled her in a music program. After learning the piano and violin she began to record demos with her producer brother Rollo, and before long she had landed a deal with Arista Records. She made her album debut in 1999 with No Angel, an international sensation that topped the charts in five countries and launched her to superstardom with hit singles like "Here with Me" and "Thank You". Her 2003 sophomore album Life for Rent was another success, topping charts around the world and going on to sell more than 13 million copies. After releasing her Grammy-nominated third album Safe Trip Home, Dido took a hiatus from the spotlight. She returned in 2013 with her fourth album Girl Who Got Away, a critical and commercial success that she supported with another acclaimed world tour.

    Better than ever

by Pat on 7/19/20The Masonic - San Francisco

It was everything I could had imagined. After 15 years, Dido’s enthusiasm to be back on the road was truly manifested. Everyone in the crowd was so eager to see her that it just made the experience a thousand times better. Wouldn’t had missed the show for anything. I truly hope she can come back soon.

    Shallow steps

    by E. A. on 7/8/19The Masonic - San Francisco

This was my second time attending this venue and the sound mixing is still an issue with the bass being too loud and drowning out the other instruments. On another note, the balcony's staircase is so steep with such shallow steps, I can't help but wonder and suggest the theater get remodeled to provide a safer, more user friendly environment. I saw a person on crutches, taking each step with extra precaution, and people around her ensuring her safety. And it also makes me weary of people who have one too many to drink and could easily tumble down the steep walkway.

    Super-Epic

by Gene on 7/7/19The Masonic - San Francisco

I went to Dido's show not expecting much. I was familiar w her historic smash debut album, No Angel, and listened to the rest before the show, finding her 2nd, 'Life for Rent' a favorite & very well made. Man! Dido tore the roof down on San Francisco's Masonic. She really did. She knows how to perform a show! And to think she was on hiatus for abt a decade, it's like she hasn't skipped a beat. She sang all my new faves fr. 'Rent' ,and i realized her new album, 'Still On My Mind' is a gem too. All songs, but esp.'Mad Love' & 'Friends'. I even go so far to say i enjoyed this summer show than even my fave band of all time, San Francisco's Third Eye Blind. Really mind-blowing show. Kudos Dido!

    Enchanted

by Keelay on 7/7/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

Dido’s Performance was such a delight. From powerful emotion to frolicky dance songs about ephemeral romances, she delivered a fun and compelling gamut of material. At times she would be singing with little to no backing music and I swear that I could hear her actual voice bellowing through the hall and not just what was coming through the microphone. That’s how powerfully she projects her singing. The venue was beautiful and the parking was easy. It was a perfect night!

    Dream come true

by Claydawg on 7/2/19The Wiltern - Los Angeles

The show was everything I thought it would be and then some more. Dido is a great entertainer, she played a big variety of her five albums. I have been wanting to see her live for the past 15 years, and am so happy I finally got a chance to.

    Dido's voice is beautiful

by B.H. on 6/30/19The Masonic - San Francisco

We missed the opener Jack Savoretti but are familiar with his music. It's a good complement to Dido. She came out at 9:05 pm as advertised, and sang one song after another. Even her lesser-known songs were performed beautifully. What a talented singer and songwriter. The band sound was good, not overpowering the vocals (The Masonic is not really known for their excellent sound engineering), the entire show was fantastic and Dido was mesmerizing. Go see her!

Dido Delivers A Moving, Vibrant and Beautiful Evening

by Bob the Poet on 6/29/19The Masonic - San Francisco

Dido's performance at San Francisco's Masonic Auditorium on Wednesday night was a joy from the first note to the last. She performed all her hits, together with a generous selection of deeper cuts from her five studio albums. I was seated on the main floor, just to the right of the stage, and could see for myself how intimately she connected with fans in the first few rows, encouraging them to sing along on the choruses, responding to comments, and generally making everyone feel that they were part of the show. Her backing band was tight and powerful, raising each song to a new level, while never overwhelming either her soaring melodies or her always-beautiful voice. Of course her songwriting was front-and-center, her complex, personal, and literate lyrics clearly audible on nearly every tune. In true show biz style, Dido withheld her mega-hit "White Flag" until the final encore, and at the sound of its opening notes, the crowd responded with a roar such as I have never heard at any show before. Dido in concert is nothing short of magnificent; her set was an unqualified triumph, and I feel honored to have been among the faithful gathered at her feet.
