About

DEVI SRI PRASAD IN CONCERT:

Indian film composer and pop singer Devi Sri Prasad has been thrilling both Tamil and Telugu-speaking audiences with his unique mix of music styles since the late ‘90s. Over the years Prasad has shaped the sound of numerous iconic Bollywood films, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources ranging from Indian classical music to Michael Jackson for timeless on-screen hits like “Nuvvostanante” and “Mellaga”. Whether he’s treating ticket buyers to a solo on his mandolin or getting audiences to dance along with him, Prasad is a consummate performer who never fails to dazzle on tour.

BACKGROUND SNAPSHOT:

Devi Sri Prasad displayed an interest in music from an early age, composing original melodies for traditional Doha poems while attending elementary school in the Indian coastal city of Chennai. During his teens he scored his first hit with “Ey Unnoda”, a Tamil dance pop track that caught the eye of notable Indian film producer M.S. Raju and earned him his first scoring credit for Raju’s mythological film, Devi. Prasad’s score was a massive success with audiences, paving the way for his musical contributions to an impressive array of beloved Indian films including Anandam (2010), Manmadhudu (2002), and Arya (2004). Prasad continues to excite audiences around the world with rousing can't-miss performances.

    Great Performer/Poor Organization

by DSPMusicFan on 8/21/18UIC Pavilion - Chicago

DSP is one of a great performer and a true rockstar. Wish he could have done a medley of some of his old hit songs. The concert start time was 6:30 PM and the organizers advertised that it will start on time. The concert didn’t start until 8 PM. This is total disrespect to your audiences. It is a pain if you attend the concert with the kids and expect them to stay up till 11 PM.

    Disappointed to the core!!!

by DSPfan on 8/21/18UIC Pavilion - Chicago

It was nothing compared to 2014 DSP show at sears arena.. Very poor selection of songs and to top it up, sound system was a nightmare.. Also, show was supposed to start at 6:30PM, but the actual show started around 8:15ishh

    Crowd was boring

He didn't play any of his hit numbers. The songs he played were boring. That choreography was impressive.

    Recording Dance Troup

by DLaks1 on 8/8/14Sears Arena Hoffman Estates - Chicago

Frankly, the DSP-Chicago concert is the worst concert we have attended. It is at best a mix of karaoke singing and record dancing type, completely amateurish live performance. High School kids here would do much better than what DSP and his group has performed. We love DSP songs and we certainly believe that DSP is one of the best contemporary Telugu music directors, of course not in the league of Ilayaraja or AR Rehman. But, we expected a decent live musical concert from him, not amateurish singing to pre-recorded tracks. Everybody can see that the few musicians standing on the stage were not playing any music, they were just pretending to show that they were playing the instruments. The background music was played from CD/music players, and the singers were doing some-kind of Karaoke singing. It was a total waste of our time and money, completely disappointed. Please, some of the organizers should tell DSP that he should do what is he is best at (play music), and not try to do what he is not good at (dancing and talking), he may be thinking that he is Michael Jackson or Prabhu Deva, is he?

Excellent Concert ! Must Visit !

by Rajak on 8/5/14Prudential Center - Newark

The concert started almost an hour late at about 8 PM, but it didn't disappoint us in any way. The entire show was so entertaining that we didn't want to leave at the end(Don't take my words seriously, I am a die hard fan of DSP) :) Malathi, Neha, Sagar, every singer in the concert has entertained us through the show. DSP - He is not just singer or dancer, he is a pretty good host. He kept us busy and entertained through out the show with his amazing "Hosting" skills ! I am not sure if anyone else would have that energy. My final suggestion is "MUST VISIT SHOW"

DSP Show - Waste of time

    by Casper1968 on 7/30/14Patriot Center - Fairfax

    - Show started an hour late - Show started with some local talent dances and a skit - An unnecessary Fashion show (keep watch for this may be go get a beverage) - Not worth it - Actual event started with singers in his troupe singing to recorded tracks with some cheesy dances made of local hires - DSP steps in after an hour with a lot of hype created by the anchor - DSP was on stage for 4 or 5 times, each time for 10 minutes - Between his breaks others singers filled in with some more songs on recorded tracks - Dummy orchestra - More dancing than singing. - Bottom line - looked like a hashed up Audio release function

    event was too short

by Anonymous on 7/30/14Patriot Center - Fairfax

The performer came late at around 650 and had to end the show by 8pm. With the breaks in between, he barely performed for 30 minutes. The performances were good but would have been nice if he came on time and performed longer for the money taken.

    organizers screwed it up

    by mlpk1 on 7/30/14Patriot Center - Fairfax

This was the worst ever. It was supposed to start at 4:30 and didnt start till 6:20 and ended at 8:00. On stage time of the main performer was 20 minutes. Felt bad for the kids who had to dance without music.
