    Absolutely magical

by Izzy on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

I have been looking to attend a Harry Potter-themed orchestra concert for a long time, and when I passed by Meadow Brook (as I go to OU!) and saw this displayed, I knew it was meant to be. I was even more excited that my boyfriend and I had just finished his first watch of the series, and this was the perfect way to end that journey the two of us have shared. I saw the DSO when I was in elementary school, and I was just as amazed then as I was a few nights ago. The production, the stage-presence, EVERYTHING about this event made me so happy. It felt so nice to be surrounded by fellow HP geeks and music nerds, and the storyline added to the show (from the scrapbook to the Twi-Wizard Tournament). By the end of the night, both my boyfriend and I were crying (happy tears) at the absolute joy and magic we felt. I hope to see more events like this in the future - whether that's another Harry Potter event, or Lord of the Rings or Star Wars - I'd love all three! 5 stars for sure!

    Disappointing

by Angiessen on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

This concert was very underwhelming. The orchestra was inferior. The stage was messy: on the back wall two curt were not closed and we could see two giant ladders the whole time. On the side the curtain wasn’t closed and we could see the sound guy. The only reason this wasn’t a two star review was because of the young actors that performed.

    Bad

by Jeff on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

Could barely hear the Orchestra. And there is a hill and we were on the back side of the hill so we couldn't even see the stage. Barely saw the roof of the amphitheatre. Absolutely horrible experience.... Not worth the $70+ for lawn seats I paid. We left early... No point staying for a show you can't see and can't hear.

    Fantastic Experience

by Brenda on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

The Harry Potter music was unbelievably awesome. My 11 year old granddaughter and everyone was beyond pleased. The conductor was so funny and awesome. The audience participation was extremely funny. First time but definitely not the last I came to Meadowbrook. Workers all so friendly and helpful. Thanks

    Fun concert

by Taylor on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

It was fun to be able to listen to the music of Harry Potter. We had lawn seats and I think I would have enjoyed it more it the sound system for the orchestra was better. Although audible, the music was very faint where we were seated. We saw a concert at the same venue a few weeks prior to this one and had no issues hearing the music while seated on the lawn. I also think for this type of concert, being able to see scenes from the movies that corresponded to the music selection being played projected on large screens would have been a nice feature.

    Great concert!

by Will on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

The DSO as always performed masterfully. The music was diverse and very difficult, yet the orchestra excelled. The conductor was outstanding, very engaging and forthcoming with helpful insight or explanation for the Harry Potter music featured. And the bonus to invite three audience members to participate in a contest on stage took the cake, especially the man that won. He was animated and very into it as was the entire audience due to his bravado and sheer joy of effort he displayed. The setting was perfect, and our seats were excellent despite being in row SS. Highly recommend any summertime DSO concert and Meadowbrook!

    Harry Potter DSO

by Karen on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

This past Sunday's event was superb! The ease in which to scan the tickets, to be able to ride a golf cart to & from the venue as I am physically challenged was a lovely surprise! The only minor complaint I have is to be able to bring a purse, small bag, etc. into the venue. The measurements of the wallet allowed was ridiculous. I don't own something with those measurements, so I stuck everything I could into pants & coat pockets.

Great performance, but crank the volume next time!

by MS on 7/13/22Meadow Brook Amphitheatre - Rochester Hills

The DSO members are all very talented, and they played the music perfectly. But the sound crew either needs to double the volume of the speakers or an outdoor amphitheatre just isn't the right venue for classical-type music. It was at such a low volume it was at times hard to hear it over the kids rolling around on the grass and laughing. I've been to the DSO in Detroit and it didn't have this problem. It really gave it the atmosphere of a quiet coffee shop. Again, performances were great, but crank the volume!
