Think of "The hand that rocks the cradle!"

by Qyetstorm on 11/14/13The Lyric - Baltimore

This was my first time at the Lyric. I was in the 3rd row, great seat. Props out to whoever decided to hold the show past it's start time of 3pm. It actually got started at 325p and thank goodness it did, traffic and parking were a bit much. The intermission was about 30min and again another 'thank goodness' because the bathroom had lines. Be mindful there is a bathroom on the 2nd floor, ladies and gents. The GOOD: I'll just say that Robin Givens carried the show for the most part. I liked the sister-in-law character(a sista from the singing group Brownstone), she could act and YES she did sing. Malik Yoba was looking fwine and yes his shirt does come off. Terrell Carter was looking fwine too and then some, and yes another shirt comes off and more... There was a caucasion actor with a minor role, and yes I would have liked to have seen his shirt come off too, he was hot! Must I not forget Terri J. Vaughnn, she played her part very well. She was on point! The BAD: I was not famliar with Demetria Mckinney (wife character) and let's just say that I was not impressed with her acting ability. Twice Malik Yoba had to adjust and turn his mic up, but he mustered on with his professional self! Too many gaffes: The audience having to tell Robin which door to open because the one she tried was incorrrect and the correct one gave her grief. Sound clips coming too early and out of sequence. The mic went out on sista Brownstone, so she had to yell; but she played her scene wonderfully. The stage moving before Robin got into place..she comedically adjusted though. The time sequence of the play, a bit confusing from "day to day." There could have been more wardrobe changes. Be prepared for Robin to be pulling down her spandex dress more than once. Overall, I was in attendance with an audience that was not appreciative of theatrical performances. As scenes ended, there were many times that an applause was due and they got nothing. It was like watching a TV show with this audience. While it wasn't the worst, I would reccommend because I enjoy seeing well known actors performing within a theatrical realm.
